Desperate Girls [Griffin, Laura] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Desperate Girls Review: one of my favorites - This book sucked me in start to finish. Loved the suspense and the unexpected twists! Moving on to the next one in the series Review: First in the series! - Talk about excited about reading Desperate Girls. I love all the books by Laura Griffin and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. Even better, Desperate Girls is the first book in the Wolfe Security series (Yay! more swoony alpha guys to look forward to). Not that I didn't miss the Tracer series' characters and I'm selfishly hoping for more books in that world. Desperate Girls begins with the murder of a prominent judge. This murder is linked to a known murderer and rapist who recently escaped from prison. The judge used to be a prosecutor and she was the one responsible for putting him behind bars. Brynn Holloran is a defense attorney. She's ruthless in court and she's always prepared for whatever happens there. Her next case is extremely important to her. She believes the accused is actually innocent. She wants to do anything in her power to make sure he's a free man. When the news of the judge's death gets to her, she's shell-shocked. Brynn used to be a prosecutor and she worked for the demised judge. Brynn's boss is convinced her life is in danger. He doesn't want Brynn or Ross, another lawyer in the firm, to be the next victims. He hires Wolfe Security to prevent any damage. Erick is an ex-secret service agent. He now works for Wolfe Security. His job is to protect Brynn. It does bother him that he's attracted to her but he can't let himself get distracted by it or she could suffer the consequences. Romantic Suspense, when done well, is a pleasure to read. Laura Griffin knows the exact combination of action and romance to inject into her books to make it work. She made Brynn a strong heroine. Although in the beginning, Brynn was not pleased with her security entourage and a couple of times she rebelled against it. Not very smart on her part. However, once she knew the threat was real, she followed their lead without questions. Eric knew his job. He was a man of a few words but no one could say he was not the take charge kind of guy. He was secure in his ability to protect her and defend her from any threat. He tried to avoid falling for her but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants. Desperate Girls is written in three different points of views. Brynn and Erick have one. So does the female police officer investigating the case. There is one character crossover from the Tracers series and a couple of interesting male cops too. The twist at the end was unexpected but welcomed. Cliffhanger: No 4/5 Fangs

This is what romantic suspense should be.
Desperate Girls is the first book in Ms. Griffin’s Wolfe Security series. Wolfe Security is a group of top notch men and women who provide private security. We first learned of Wolfe Security in Ms. Griffin’s Tracers Series. Wolfe Security is hired by defense attorney Reggie Gunn to protect two of his attorneys, Brynn Holloran and Ross Foley, as they gear up to defend a young man on a murder charge. Brynn firmly believes her client is innocent. One of Brynn’s former associates is brutally murdered and they suspect James Corby, an escaped murderer, is behind her murder. Brynn was co-counsel at his trial. The threat against Brynn is real and very intense. Erik Morgan is assigned by Wolfe Security to head the detail protecting Brynn and Ross. Eric was a Secret Service Agent before he joined Wolfe Security. He is very focused and detailed in his protection. He expects everyone to fall into line and do exactly what he says. Brynn, however, firmly believes she needs to be in control. She is used to doing things her way and doesn’t much like being told what she can and cannot do. As Brynn prepares for her trial, she and Lindsey Leary, the police investigator charged with finding James Corby, actively search for anything that will help catch this killer. Erik just wants to protect his clients. The chemistry between Erik and Brynn is smoking! They are attracted to each other and while Brynn is okay with that, Erik has a code he follows that doesn’t allow emotional or physical attachment to his client. The journey to the end was filled with suspense, mystery, romance and turn-the-page action. Desperate Girls is what romantic suspense should be. I love this new series. Wolfe Security is filled with men and women who will put their lives on line to protect their clients. I am eager for more stories to come. I highly recommend this book. Ms. Griffin is an auto-buy author for me. I have read all her books and eagerly look forward to her next one.

Very Enjoyable
My reviews are different than most reviews. You can/have read the synopsis, I'm sure, so I tell you why I like or dislike a book. Analogy: I'm a cook (this does relate to my review). Sometimes I cook a really GOOD meal...enjoyable...wouldn't want to miss it....appreciated by the diners. Then, at times, I cook a FANTASTIC meal! Everybody wants to be there for dinner. It's exciting and the meal is perfect. Desserts are Betty Crocker beautiful. Just a "WOW" meal. I outdid myself!! And, finally, I MAY at times, cook a meal that just didn't fulfill my expectations....was a little bland...just didn't turn out the way I planned, but it's better than nothing. For me, DESPERATE GIRLS is like a "GOOD" meal. I enjoyed the story very much. I really like Erik and Brynn but wish their characters and relationship had developed more. I wanted to know more about them. I really like Brynn when she was in court. I recommend this book especially for mystery/romance readers; and, I wouldn't want to miss reading it. I'm looking forward to this new series.

If you like tense, non stop action, drama and suspense then this is the book for you. It has it all with likeable characters and an intriguing storyline. Couple that with an unexpected twist made this a very enjoyable book.

Really well written book. Great plot and didn't pick the twist. Bit of a love story in there but didn't take over the book. Good, strong characters. Definitely worth the read.

I’ll admit, the first chapter was a jump to get into. The back & forth of perspectives was not attention grabbing for me, but once I got into the next few chapters I was hooked. Read this book in a day, couldn’t put it down. I’m not a avid reader, I pick up a book maybe once every 3 years & this one was captivating. 10/10 recommend.

Laura Griffin is a wonderful writer and this was a great read. It reads like silk, smooth effortless enjoyment. The characters are believable, plot was smooth, and the dialogue was great. It is the kind of book you are sad it ended. Thanks Laura!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Loved the characters as a whole but the female lead did annoy me at times with her refusal to listen. Still, as she was portrayed as a confident head strong woman i shouldn't be surprised. Having read all the tracer series and loved it, i was pleased that this book reintroduced the Wolfe Security team. Fast paced plot. Slightly predictable relationship dilemma (im not in the market for a relationship blah blah - would be refreshing to have a couple who just went for it for a change) I did figure out the ending pretty much but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story. Need more Laura Griffin, she can't possibly write fast enough.
