Don’t buy
Speaker did pair very easy but had no power at all. Was very disappointed as the volume with the iPad was nearly as loud as the speaker.

The R4 sucks (when compared to the R2)
When compared to any of the other speakers, this thing sucks! Like actually. I bought the R2 and it’s amazing! But the R4 sucks, I can’t say that enough! I don’t know why they got rid of the R2’s, like you can only... very rarely find a R2 for sale, and if you do their like $40 or $50! (Original price for R2’s are $20) I fail to understand how and why they stopped selling the R2’s! WHY!? The bass on the R4 sucks, (even when not compared to the R2) The sound quality is the same as the R2... so no improvements. Battery life in practice at 70% volume I got 16 to 24 hours of play time, the R2 at 70% had 10 to 14 hours. Water resistance is the same as the R2. The quality of built sucks as well... plastic, and not good smooth plastic, no ruff edged easily scratched. (The R2 used smooth, finished, and silicone-like plastic [at least it felt like that]). R4’s, having the main bass driver on the back proves harsh and diminishing on the sound quality. The buttons on the R4 suck. The R4 does not have a onboard EQ (for bass) when the R2 does have a bass EQ (button).TL;DR:Don’t buy this if you value quality and life time. And if you can please try to buy the R2!

As expected not great but pretty good!
UPDATE:So I listened to my favourite music all night(which is why I bought it) and the speaker is still going strong, so I really like the idea of sliding in a macro SD card (they call it a TF card), and the skip button to the next song works...and I reconsidered my 3 star rating and rated it 4 stars for good performance;it's a good speaker for that price range.0This is an inexpensive speaker, so I knew to expect a modest improvement over my laptop speakers; Someone replied to my question about how long it takes to charge: he replied a day and a half!?He probably charged it through his computer USB slot; that's a common "mistake", I plugged it through a 5 volt adapter in an AC outlet: charging time after receiving brand new: 3 hours! You get very little bass, if any, but you can cheat a little bit by boosting through your equalizer; at that price, that is to be expected; I do like that they added a handle cord to carry it around and am eager to to try the micro SD (TF) slot to listen to a mix of music I made; the coupling is automatic but, as usual, the button to skip to the next song doesn't work; I am not impressed but it will have to do for now until I pay more for a good blue tooth speaker. I'll have to test it for how long the battery lasts, they say 24 hours, some say 18 hours (at 70% volume), so I'll see and give you an update.

impressive for what you get
My wife got these after I had commented about them. And neither one of us were expecting what we got. They are small speakers compared to what we were expecting but they produce Great sound and the bluetooth is clear on both ends when we talk. No buzzing or muffled sound. So far I have hooked up tp my computer and my projector. the first one seem a bit temperamental when placing an AUX Jack into it kept losing sound were are not sure if it is the speaker or the wire. But if we remove it and stick it back in and we have sound. We have been running it about 12hrs a day and going on the third day and still have not charged it from the original full charge when we got it. The Bass is not super powerful but it does a decent job. the sound given the source produces beautifully. So if you looking for a long battery life and decent sound from a small speaker this would be a great grab, I got these to replace another wireless speaker.

So so
I have bought five of these. And overall I like the product, the fact that they’re waterproof—one is in my bathroom permanently, and the price. The sound quality is pretty good. My issue is that it’s super hard to connect some of them to certain devices. The one in my office is the worst one. I think I got a shoddy one. I’ve had to delete it and re-add it many times and sometimes takes up to 10 minutes to sync with my MacBook. Also you have to turn your Bluetooth on before the speaker or you have to do the dance of turning the speaker off and on again. It gets to be annoying if you don’t have Bluetooth on all the time on all your devices—which I don’t just bc it sucks the life out of the battery faster. Once you connect it’s ok but prior to that it is not without issues.

Had 2, neither could keep connection. Don’t buy.
Bought one for our Spa bc I liked the Blue color. First speaker worked for 6 months then would no longer remain connected. It was still under warranty, and after 3 phone calls and 5 emails, they sent me a new speaker. Worked for 1 day before not being able to connect again. Have used another Anker and a Marley BT speaker w our desktop we use to play w music and never a problem with either of those. Sound quality was pretty good, as was battery life, but if a BT speaker can not maintain connection, it’s worthless. Spend the extra $8 and buy an Anker that sounds better, is louder and is reliable.
