It works
This is an excellent product. It provides long-term relief.

Literally the only thing that has worked after so many months!
It's rare I bother leaving a review, but I feel that it's important that I do. Within the past year, I developed psoriasis. And I tried so many creams, balms, lotions, supplements to no avail. So much money wasted with little to no results. Even when I did get some results, I'd flare up. And sometimes new spots came up with the flare up. But then I saw a mention on another review about this item. I was hesitant but at that point what did I have to lose. The only real downfall of this item is the smell. It smells exactly like it sounds. I really only apply it at home because of the smell. But in reality, I suppose you get used to it. By far though, this product has done wonders in the past 3 weeks. I am down to my initial spot which is the back of my neck now. All other spots have healed. No redness. No scaling. Just a bit of discoloration where the spots were, which I will take dealing with it for the past months. I used to wake up every morning with dead skin flakes all over my bed. Now my sheets are clear. The back of my neck is healing, but on a slower scale. But the redness is gone, just the discoloration. The skin does get dry and sometimes itchy, but that's after my day is done, which is a drastic improvement of having to apply cream or lotion every hour or two. Plus, the stuff is a great value. I apply it 1-2 times a day depending, and I still have 2/3 of the container left. I'm hoping people read this and use this. My psoriasis really made me self conscious. Now that I'm really healing, I feel like my old self again.

MG217 Anti Psoriasis cream: stinks a bit but it does work for psoriasis....slowly, 4.2 stars
This stuff comes in a small jar and the cream itself is a sort've light yellow-ish gel or cream that stinks a bit. The odor isn't terribly strong, so you won't clear a room, but has a distinct chemical smell to it. Goes on thin and looks like vaseline when its rubbed on. Takes at least a few days for it to start to work but it will get the skin on your hands healing after a while. Doesn't seem to be that great at stopping flare ups or swelling though. At least not on my skin. But everyone's skill reacts a little different to this stuff. Personally I use CeraVe Psoriasis cream to deal with swelling or flare ups and then rub this stuff on to get the skin healing. I've tried lots of other creams and this is the 1st one to do a decent job on actually healing the skin instead of just making the swelling and redness go down.

"Cured" my scalp psoriasis
I have (undiagnosed, but pretty obvious) scalp psoriasis. It affects my entire hairline, especially towards the front of my head close to my temple and the back of my neck. It pops up on the rest of my scalp as well but that's less noticeable. Occasionally it flares up to the point where the front of my head is a raised, itchy, flaky mess and it's super embarrassing and distressing as anyone who suffers from this knows. Given that I'm a black girl with thick, curly hair- it just makes it look like my hair is dirty which it definitely is not. Braids and other styles have also been a nightmare due to this. I've been at my wits end for a few years now trying different remedies and I stumbled upon this product and said why not? I kid you not, the first day I applied it to the problem areas (the entire front of my head/forehead) I noticed a difference. Moisturizing the spots in general helps but this really kept it moisturized due to the consistency. I would have been happy with that alone, but as the days went by I realized the flaking and itching COMPLETELY stopped and my skin is actually healing and starting to look like the rest of my face again. I apply it every time I remember to be honest; I've spread it down into my scalp as well and it has truly "cured" my issue. Even when I can tell I'm having a flare up, the ointment calms it down completely. I will say it doesn't smell that great but I honestly don't care at all. The smell is irrelevant given that it works so well and it's not strong enough to where it will actually be an issue. As long as you use your regular hair products afterwards you're good! This product is definitely going to be a staple for me and I recommend it to anyone who has psoriasis.

Actually healed redness and flaking
Before this, I had exclusively used Gold Bond's Psoriasis Lotion. I was using Gold Bond 1-2 times a day for almost 3 years and it helped, but it didn't do any long-term healing. Each morning I'd wake up and my psoriasis was just as bad as the previous morning, and it'd stay bad until I put the Gold Bond on it. I switched to the MG217, just to try something new, about a month ago and it is frankly amazing. I use it 1-4 times a day, depending on severity of the flakes. The difference is I see things HEALING. Where I used to wake up every morning with terrible psoriasis in and around my ears and at the base of my scalp, now it is mostly only redness and a little bit of flaking and even that is healing. I don't flake nearly as much as I used to. I will honestly never go back to Gold Bond. The MG217 is amazing and has alleviated a lot of my discomfort about wearing my hair up. It doesn't smell good, as people mentioned, but it doesn't reek. I wouldn't worry about the smell, especially if you're using T-Gel shampoo also, it's no worse than that. And, in my experience, if you want to get something for psoriasis that actually works, it's probably gonna smell like tar. The cons: It is ointment, so it's greasy, which sucks when most of your psoriasis is under/around your hair. It also doesn't do as much for the itch as the Gold Bond Psoriasis Cream did, in my experience. Tldr If you have psoriasis get this. It actually starts to heal the redness and flaking long-term.

I think it’s working?
I’m using this product in conjunction with their salicylic acid lotion to treat psoriasis. It’s difficult to rate this one because of that fact. The two are meant to be used together as the lotion gets rid of scales and the coal tar is supposed to slow/prevent their production after they’re gone. The problem is that I can’t tell if it’s working. This was unavailable for a while so I used only the lotion. Using the lotion alone, my scales mostly cleared up but would reoccur to a lesser extent a few times a week. At some point I started supplementing the lotion with Aquaphor. Between the lotion and Aquaphor I haven’t seen scales in weeks. Now I’ve received the coal tar and have been using that instead of the Aquaphor. I don’t know if it has any added benefits. Still no scales but I don’t know that it’s any better than Aquaphor. That being said there are some negatives that really need to be addressed especially considering the fact that this product may work but it’s not adding a huge benefit if it does. First, and by far the most concerning negative is the fact that coal tar is a potential carcinogen. I didn’t see that in the description but it certainly has a warning on the bottle. However, I will say, do your own research on this. My research has said that coal tar is only carcinogenic for those who work with high concentrations. Many recent studies have shown that under 5% (this one is 2%) is safe. Second is that it stinks! It really is oil (like car oil) based, it reminds me of when my small town growing up only had gravel roads. Yearly they would cover the gravel in what I’m guessing was oil, this smells like that. Lastly, I’ve read that coal tar can stain stuff including your skin. I don’t know that this product has a high enough concentration to stain skin (I’m pretty light skinned and have seen no staining) but it might stain really light clothing/bedding. In conclusion, I wouldn’t recommend against it but I also can’t highly recommend it either. The salicylic acid lotion is definitely magical, it 100% works, buy that for sure but the coal tar 🤷♀️? UPDATE: Now it’s kind of burning when I apply it to certain patches. I don’t know if that means it’s working or it’s just irritating a patch that’s on the verge of returning with a vengeance. Either way, there’s a slight burning sensation and while the scales are non-existent (Due to the salicylic acid lotion) my skin is now red where the scales used to be. I would say I’m allergic to the product but I used it for weeks with no problem. All the sudden though, the burning and redness. I’m about to go off the fence on this one. I still have hope that it’s actually preventing further flare-ups but the burning sensation and redness give me pause.

The Only Product That Worked! Try it, it worked for me....
I had contacted Psoriasis symptoms after using a liquid Minoxidil product for around 6 months that dried, created flaky skin which ended up in a horrible red rash on my scalp. I tried just about every product out there. Some controlled the symptoms and provided temporary relief, but all failed to eliminate the red, dry and painful condition of my scalp. Eventually I begin to become ill, brain fog and a few other horrible things as my condition worsened. I decided to do more research on Amazon.com rather then medical journals and blogs on the internet. This product was one of the most used products that had the highest success rates, so I gave it a try. Within 12 hours there was a reduction of the redness, scales and dry skin. By the second day, i felt almost better with a few small flair ups. At this time it has been about three days since I started using it and my scalp is almost completely back to normal. The pain, itching, dry skin and rash are gone! I did use some Cortisone 10 for psoriasis that provided relief of the itching, that would not cure it, but is good to use with this product the first day or two to help. I hope this works well for others too. Oh by the way I was able to control the psoriasis with coconut oil. But the coconut oil did not cure it, it provided some relieve, but never restored my scalp to normal. This product does smell a bit like dirty oil, but please do not let that stop you as it works. Also I used their shampoo too. Regular shampoo makes the condition worse and dandruff shampoo can be just as bad. Use their shampoo if you want fast results.

Don’t work
Had a funny smell to it and did not help my grandsons itch at all. It was pretty thick so use a little if you do use it
