Ortega Guitars Soprano Ukulele acoustic - Bonfire Series - sapele top with laser engraved motif (RU5MM-SO)

This Uke has a really great sound and is well finished. Yes, it's not a top-end solid wood Uke, but for the tier of instrument and price bracket that it's aimed at it fairs very well indeed. Certainly much nicer sound and feel than the basic cheapo entry level kiddie Ukes out there.Even though it said it came with Ortega specific Aquila strings, I assumed they'd be cheaper or inferior to Aquila's excellent Nylgut strings that I use on other Ukes, so I also ordered some Nylguts to restring it. However I needn't have bothered as I'm very happy with the sound with the Ortega Aquila's that were already fitted.It's a shame that another reviewer marked it as only one star as I feel that really doesn't do this instrument justice. Yes it has a 35mm nut, and yes it does state it's 1.45" (36.8mm) in the product description, but 35mm is still common on most Ukes and it plays really well. So what's the problem?

My second purchase of a ukulele from Amazon because the price was the most competitive. This instrument is of very good quality in the build, finish and tone. Ortega maintain a reliable quality with all its instruments, (I also have a concert) The fretboard and bridge are first class as is the intonation, with Aquila strings its very playable and once stretching is over maintains its tuning brilliantly. For me the purchase of their instruments is money well spent, if you're in the market for a ukulele they are well worth consideration.

The ukulele came a week sooner than expected! It was such a surprise! It has great quality for its price. I have more expensive ukuleles where some notes sound deaf. But not with this one! All notes sound bright and clear. I’ll look forward for this brand in the future for sure.

This ukulele is well made . The most outstanding feature are the strings . They are custom made and stay in tune longer than any of my other ukuleles .

Played and sounded like a kids toy.. buy a Kala Makala for £80 as it sounds so much better playing them alongside each other..
