Great RIT product. Works quite well.
I use RIT products all the time. Does a great job coloring the material. Never had an issue. Just make sure you follow the directions on the box and you will have a beautifully dyed product.

Works GREAT to keep freshly dyed colors
This product saved the recent project I was working on. I recently bought a pink hat that I wanted to dye black using RIT black dye. After following all of the proper steps for the dye, I [;aced it in the washing machine to rinse out the excess dye. However, when the hat came out of the washer most of the black color had faded, leaving it a muted pink. I decided to try again, not changing anything in my process besides using the RIT colorstay after dyeing and before placing in the washing machine. This time, when the hat came out it was still the strong, black color I had originally dyed it to. I've been wearing the hat nonstop for the past month and the color hasn't faded one bit.

Works really well
This worked great on a cotton-rayon blend dress. Originally cream colored with black flowers, after the dying process, it is a very dark gray with black flowers. I have washed the dress several times since dying it and have had no fading.

Did not work well for my dress.
I would give this about a 75% score. I accidentally splashed two bleach spots on my cotton/rayon blend Black dress. I bought this dye and the color sealer. This did not work as well as I thought it would. I then used a Black sharpie I had read online about using, and THAT did the trick!I was so pleased!

GET THIS if you are dyeing fabric!
Save yourself the headache and just get this if you are planning to dye anything. I used the same RIT dye without it and... never again. The dye never seems to wash out entirely and requires so many rinses that I felt like I was wasting a ton of water. The dye also does seem to wash out and fade pretty much immediately. I saw the color of my garment before washing and loved it, but was disappointed at how much lighter it actually turned out. If that is what you're going for, you can skip this I guess, but the amount of water you'll use rinsing is just scary. This totally stops that and locks the color in. The residual dye washes out super fast and doesn't leave a bunch of residue behind. The color stays super vivid through repeated washings.

Great stuff- not just for dyeing clothes!
I’m on my 5th purchase. I originally bought this when I was dyeing some shirts a few years back (pandemic hobby lol), but now I use it more often for new clothing that bleeds color (especially purple colors seem to bleed like crazy) Last week I purchased a shirt (tec gear) from a local kohl’s store and thank goodness I hand washed it first because it filled the sink with brownish purple water that would have stained my other laundry. The color never seemed to stop coming so I added a capful of this and some hot water- amazing how it stopped the bleed! I’m now confident to launder the shirt with my other clothes in the future without fear of damaging everything! Easy to use with perfect results, especially if you’re buying clothes online from foreign retailers for those cheap prices- trust me, hand wash those capris leggings first to make sure they don’t bleed dye, but if they do just add this and it’s fixed 👍
