Cantor's Dilemma: A Novel

Had to read this novel for a course,it's actually a pretty good book considering it's not the genre I usually enjoy. It's kinda a romantic drama about scientists, i'm pretty sure moms and scientists would really like it.

Waste of money. Garbage indeed. I don't know how it is even remotely useful in academia. A totally unrealistic scenario with wordy description. Waste of time and money.

I thought this book did a great job portraying life in academia. Some of the characters felt rushed and a little unbelievable but it's forgivable given the length of the book.

It is really a fantastic book as a novel as well as a scientific ethics book.

Very good start and middle. I was expecting a bigger ending.

Carl Djerassi is known as a preeminent scientist and published novelist. This is well worth the read. If the motive that took me to the novel appeals then it is worth saying I got to it by reading a simply wonderful collection of interviews with eminent scientists edited by Lewis Wolpert and published in 1997 called Passionate Minds.

Excellent insights into academic life, the pressures and drivers of the profession. Very close to home!

I b ought this book to complete my collection of works by this author.

La storia è straordinariamente avvincente, probabilmente molto più per chi vive la ricerca e conosce almeno in parte le dinamiche del mondo accademico. Il testo, pur se usato, è arrivato in condizioni ECCELLENTI.

Had an essay to do on this book and it turned out to be interesting.

Que se passe-t-il dans la tête d'un nobelisable? Quels sont les enjeux, les jeux de pouvoir, les pièges, les risques, les petits et les gros mensonges qu'on est prêt à tolérer? Le monde scientifique n'est pas si simple qu'on peut le croire, c'est ce que rappelle, utilement, ce livre.

In many (chemistry) labs Cantor's Dilemma is considered common knowledge. All the feelings a scientist has after presenting a new piece of work (where experiments can be easily misinterpreted) are described. In this book the worst nightmare of a scientist happens.If you think that all scientific publications are true or if four letter words offend you, you shouldn't read Cantor's Dilemma.
