Great batteries. Loved that they are OEM so I bought 2 more. Just wish they weren't so expensive. They fit my A6400 perfectly and now I cant tell which was the original.

The reason for this is the battery used to cost $80.00 but the switch to a Chinese manufacturing shaves off $20.00. Also, the technology has vastly improved in the past few years thanks to the switch to a more uniform slightly slimmer design and YES this battery will work with your old W series charger that came with your camera.MOST importantly, take the battery out of the package and give it a complete full charge BEFORE you use it in a camera. Doing this will help to set the internal InfoChip to give you an accurate percentage reading of your battery power level.As for other Sony batteries out there. How to find an exact replacement for your old battery is simple. Well, it's a battery. And it's very good at being one, as it is identical to the that came with my camera. Though, I did find the price a bit too high for it being just a battery, even when factoring in that it's original.

The great mystery is why anyone would conclude that this battery is not a genuine Sony battery. It could not be more obvious that it is. I can't rule out the possibility that Amazon somehow bought a batch of counterfeit batteries at some point and was selling them unknowingly. That is possible I supposed, but it is not particularly likely, and even if it happened, it did not continue for very long. The packaging is exactly the same as the packaging you see for this battery anywhere else, to include the retail shelf at BB. And there aren't any visible differences between this battery and the battery than came with my NEX-7. As for the price markdown, it is apparent that Sony permits on-line retailers to sell this battery at a discounted price, that Sony specifies, because there are many on-line retailers who sell this battery, and they all sell it for the same price. The only way that could occur is if Sony tells them that they can sell it at a discount, and tells them the specific amount at which they are permitted to sell it. The fact that this is clearly taking place is further compelling evidence that this is a genuine Sony battery. And the package has the special holographic security strip, that shows the Sony logo only if you hold it at the required angle relative to the light. There just isn't any reason for anyone to think that this is not the real deal. It could hardly be any more obvious that it is the real deal. But, if you prefer, you can go buy it at BB instead and pay twice as much for it.
