Easy to apply, very hydrophobic, and lasts a decent amount of time
Rain X is still champ in this field for cost to performance ratio, but I'd say Gtechniq is worth the price. I clay barred the exterior of my car windows, applied as directed, and I was very pleased with the performance. After windows got wet (even from washing), I was able to dry them off with compressed air. When driving, rain rolls off starting at about 25+ MPH (clean windows.) Obviously, if you can refrain from using wipers on the windshield, product will last longer there. Otherwise, windshield needs re-applied over time when side and rear windows are still going strong. Product lasts as long as Rain X, but I find it to be slightly more hydrophobic when properly applied.

Great Product
Great Product ! Have used on all my cars, repels water and makes driving in heavy rain much safer.

Very good at improving visibility while driving
The very first step in using this product is to use a different gtechniq product that does not come with it. I had no idea that any other product was even suggested, but ultimately that other product is just a high quality glass cleaner, so you can skip those steps assuming that the glass on your car is clean.I'm very, very happy with the performance of the hydrophobic coating on my windshield. Depending on how much it's raining and how fast I'm driving, I don't have to use my windshield wipers at all because the water will bead up and run off the windshield on its own. Water does not ever form "sheets" on the windshield, it always beads up to small droplets, and if the droplets get too big, then they roll right off the windshield.Applying the product was fairly involved and definitely requires some elbow grease. I would start with the recommended 3 coats for the front windshield, 2 coats for the rear windshield, then use whatever is remaining preferentially on the driver and passenger front windows, then the rear windows. I barely had enough of the coating to get my entire car, which is why I'd recommend making sure that you can get the entire front and rear windshields with enough coats before applying to any windows.Overall I think it took me about 45 minutes to apply, and ~2 months on it still works very very well. I imagine it probably needs to be reapplied every 6-8 months, mostly depending on how long your car sits outside in the elements.

Follow the instructions
Water flies off at highway speeds, and visibility in the rain is way better. Lasts longer than Rain-X, but the application is a bit tedious… It takes time and effort to buff off properly. Follow the instructions, and it’s 100% worth it.

I think it's working? maybe?
I love detailing cars and was looking for a nice glass coating for the winter. I had been using rain-x, but it requires frequent re-application. I was excited to try the Gtechniq.I ordered the Gtechniq class polish and cleaner. Spent around thirty minutes polishing and prepping the glass. my car only has about 4k miles on it so the windshield is still in good condition.Spent another hour applying three coats of the G1. Being neurotic and meticulous following the instructions. Afterwards, i think it's working? water beads up and runs off much better with Rain-x. it's actually hard for me to tell if this stuff is doing anything. As an experiment I put a 6 inch circle of the G1 on my shower door. Certainly it should be apparent that water is beading in the spot more than the glass around it. Nope.

Gonna rain now since I did it
The process of polishing the glass (by hand using GT polish was tough but due to me applying ceramic n car body I couldn't use DA but the G1 was great to use although I'd like to see a dropper type top like is in EXOv5 bottle to control amount dispensed since there's no sprayer. I have not had it out yet but rain is in forecast so I'll know. I've used rain-x since I was 16 (I'm 64 now) but found rain-x wasn't lasting very long and since I was doing the GTECHNIQ CSL/EXOv5 to my car i bought this as well. Maybe it's the polish but my glass looks phenomenal. We shall see how it works/lasts to determine if i want to pay continued price which is 10x rain-x cost first one-fifth the liquid. I take into account performance so cost isn't always a deal breaker. I hate using my wipers. I'll try to come back after some months or when it fails to update

First Step = good so far.
This is right after spending an hour or so applying the product to the windshield, sunroof, mirrors, back window, and front side windows. So far This may work. used windshield stripper on all windows and cleaned after. followed instructions and applied 3 coats of g1 to the front windshield and 1 coat to all other surfaces in a garage. Waited and then rubbed G2 around the same way I applied the coats. after small sections, buffed with a clean polish microfiber towel. The glass surface was very tacky it was hard to move the clean towel compared to rainx or another rain repellant, So my guess is after curring the surface will be very smooth. Now we wait 3 hours to see if it works. My guess is the liquids are palmer and acetone. G1 applies smoothly and then drys hazy and the glass is no longer smooth and kinda tacky. G2 smells like 90% alcohol or strong acetone. I'm guessing you use the g2 to fill in microcracks/chips on glass, then you go through and level the surface with the alcohol. When I get done with work today, I'll see how it looks and track how effective/long-lasting this is.Also almost didn't buy this based on D. Scott's review, but you can find how to apply the coatings fairly easily. Now if this doesn't work on my car, then I would agree that this might work fro pros and not a DIY person.

Made new windshield hazy when it rains
I applied the Gtechniq G1 water repellent to windshield and followed the instructions. However, when it rains, it actually makes my windshield hazy, as if were smearing somehow. This did not happen before I applied the product. My windshield was practically brand new and had no mineral deposits. Honestly, RainX was so much better and beaded the water so nicely.
