Still the best
The media could not be loaded. Most recent use was my heavy old army coat.I got it soaking wet then sprayed this onto it ang hung it by a radiator to dry over night. I've included a video showing how the ancient old heavy canvas coat shrugs off the water. Now out in the rain the top layer of the coat is going to soak up a little rain BUT it doesn't get through and the coat still breathes perfectly well. Also use this stuff on waterproof coats and tents that need a recoating. I've waterproofed a thick cotton bucket hat and Craghopper Kiwi trousers, all good. The trousers don't last as long because the material is very thin, moves a hell of a lot and brushes against everything.Works great on canvas trainers like Converse Allstars, confused my wife and daughter when we got caught in a downpour.Use it on all sorts of footwear and is really good for older boots (leather included) that leak slightly around the lace holes. If you're going to use on something like gaiters then you need to be really generous with it, you'll need to refresh it more often there too.I don't like plastic coats, I hate GoreTex stuff, the environmental impact of it is not justifiable for me and plastic coats are so so sweaty when soaked, yes even GoreTex. Very noisy too.You do need to recoat jackets and I prefer doing it by hand, find the washing machine method to be hit and miss. This has so so many uses. Once you've got it you'll find loads of uses for it.

Does it work?
Product does what it says. Easy to mix and apply. Gives the fabric the appropriate waterproofing.

It worked for me.
I used this to reproof an old canvas Billingham 550 camera bag plus end pockets. I used as per instructions (plus a dash extra for luck) and then used a sponge and a good quality paint brush to apply it inside and out. It went on well, soaked in nicely and dried fairly quickly. When the bag was dry and water tested with a hose, the water beaded and ran off as I hoped it would. I'm confident it will help to keep any equipment dry and has helped to give the bag a new lease of life. If you want to do something similar then consider the smaller bottle and save your money as this was a bit of an overkill for the purpose I bought it for.

WARNING - Do not pour into washing machine before starting wash!
The reason is that when you switch on a washing machine it automatically pumps out water, if you pour in the proofing it will pump that out too! This may be the reason some people find it useless. Wait until the machine starts to fill then add the proofing. I cannot find any instructions to this effect to prevent you pouring money down the drain. I cannot recommend the fabric conditioner tray as it adds conditioner to the last rinse and it will not be washed into the cotton. It does add some waterproofing to cotton canvas but not sure how well it will do in a shower.

Did what it said on the instructions
Nothing to dislike. It did what it said on the container and now my parka is waterproof

Showerproof Cantilever Parasol
The media could not be loaded. I'd tried a spray which wasn't good so I searched quite hard for a different one and read all reviews. This came up the best. I used the in wash first then used this product. Using a one in the washer seemed odd to me but it worked!!! If you dismantle your parasol, take details pics & notes! I did but still struggled getting one part back together 😆

Great product but needed 5x the recommened amount to waterproof my coat
I used this to protect a 3/4 length cotton coat. With my first attempt, following the machine wash instructions, the process failed to waterproof the item. With my second attempt I pre-soaked the coat in a mix of water and the 3 times the recommend amount of product, and then machine washed the coat with another 2 cap fulls of the product. The second attempt was successful and my cotton coat is now waterproof. I would like to give 5 stars, as being able to waterproof something at this price is amazing, but I have to drop 1 star for this problem with the instructions that I encountered.

Works great!
I didn’t use it the way it says on instructions. I diluted it and put it into spray bottle and applied to a snowsuit I made out of water repellent fabric. Not it’s really waterproof. Not sure how long it will stay and how often I will neeed to reapply it. I guess depends on weather and use, but I still have over half the bottle - so will last for a while.

Worked for vintage M65 Field Jacket
I was a little nervous given the variability on some of the reviews but I washed my M65 field jacket with tech wash and then cotton proof in my washing machine and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed, water beads up on rolls off similar to what the other field jacket user reported. Short of waxing, cotton will never be truly waterproof but I would say that if there were light rain or showers in the forecast I wouldn't be concerned. In the bottle the proofer smells a little like Elmer's glue with a trace of vinegar but I can't detect it at all on the dried garment.
