The LSAT Trainer: A Remarkable Self-Study System for the Self-Driven Student [Kim, Mike] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The LSAT Trainer: A Remarkable Self-Study System for the Self-Driven Student Review: Encouraging, Clear, and Great for Independent LSAT Study - This book is an excellent resource for anyone preparing for the LSAT on their own. The explanations are clear and approachable, and the tone is motivating rather than intimidating. I appreciate how the author emphasizes understanding patterns and logic rather than rote memorization. It feels thoughtfully structured and easy to follow, especially for self-driven learners. It’s a great complement to other LSAT materials and helped me feel more confident in my approach to studying. I had been using online resources but it was nice to have something tangible. Improved my score by multiple points! Review: If you only want to splurge for only one study support this is it - I haven't taken my official LSAT yet, but this book has been amazing at building skills. I went from a diagnostic of 153 to consistently only getting a one or two problems wrong on drills and practice test scores in the upper 160s and haven't even finished the whole book yet. The writing of the book is personable and has little quips that breaks up intense studying nicely. I really loved how the methodology for LR was laid out to learn, with the basis not being on question types but building overall habits that help on any question. It really helped me visualize what I needed to be doing and focusing on. I also really like how having the chapters of the book made my studying feel much more organized, rather than being spread thin over a lot of resources I was able to focus on one or two chapters a study session and do problem drills along side it. I also found that the set up of explanation to drills really works for me. A ton information consumed means nothing without practice problems and reflection, so having the drills with concise in depth explanations after each chapter or multiple during the chapter is amazing. USE IT FULLY, don't skip its drills, and be sure to consistently work on question drills outside of the book as well through your preferred drill website like law hub, 7sage, or LSAT Demon. This together is one of the best prep methods I have found. I haven't used any other resources to study besides this and law hub. I'm am finding I'm progressing to where I want to be quickly. If you're looking to spend money on only one or two prepping tools like I was, I cannot recommend this book enough. It is so worth the money

Really, really, really thankful I stumbled upon this. It's perfect...
Okay, I haven't taken the LSAT yet, so my rating is not about the book's impact on my score. I'm just starting studying (or have been for the past month or so) and have been looking at all of the available prep material: in person classes, online classes, books, tutors, apps, schools, etc., etc. It was getting really overwhelming and I was starting to panic, because I didn't have a single, clear study plan that I felt comfortable committing to. I was using a hodgepodge of this and that and I knew if I didn't find a plan and stick to it, I'd have holes in my understanding of the test. I was literally just about to sign up with this $750 personalized LSAT online mentor/tutor/class and whatever all else it was, when I stumbled upon this book. I read some of the reviews that were good and they were impressive, but I read the bad ones that said "He didn't explain why the answer was bad, he just said it wasn't a good answer". I didn't really know what to think. So, I did my research, went to his website, watched some of his videos, browsed his online student resources and realized that this guy knows what he is talking about. He has created a very organized, thorough method to prepare students to succeed on the LSAT and really the only thing you have to do is be a competent, disciplined person who is willing to work hard through his curriculum. Anyway, his method speaks to me. I just get him. He does have times where he says "It's just not the right answer", but it's not in a section where he's teaching you why such-and-such is right and such-and-such is wrong. It's in a section where he's explicitly stated he is modeling the rapid internal thought process of a high scoring student, so that you can get a picture of what you're working towards. I get his method and totally agree. How can you work through these difficult problems quickly and accurately, like a high-scoring student, if you don't even know what it's truly like to think like that? I think it's a great way to make it concrete and help students formulate a goal. So, anyway, I love his teaching style, organization, voice (like he's talking to you) and most importantly, he's the real deal. He's not out there to make money and sell fluff. He's about training your brain to think. Not trying to identify the question type, then going back into your head and trying to remember what you know about this question type, etc. etc. That's such a waste of time and energy and it's anxiety provoking. This guy says drop all of that, let's practice together, learn some strategies, repeat, so these processes become habits and you can just instinctively begin to attack the problems yourself. It's simplistic and practical. I am so glad I found it JUST in time, like down to the day, to use the 12 week prep plan. Thanks to Mike Kim for this book! It's perfect for me.

I decided to study the LSAT by myself, and this book has been an essential part of the process. Mike delivers the information in such a readable manner that chapters fly by when you study with this book (unless you get stuck on a drill!). Highly recommend it for anyone who is preparing for an LSAT.

This is an excellent LSAT prep book! When I bought it in March 2023, I had just signed up for the June 2023 LSAT and had no idea what the format of the LSAT was or how to practice. This book really is a one stop shop for all of the explanations that you need to succeed on the LSAT. On my first practice test I got a 166, but after going through all of the content in the book, I was consistently scoring between 173-178 on practice tests. One thing that I really appreciate about the book is that the author really focuses on having to build you skills and being able to trust your instincts so that you can perform on test day. I feel that this was the perfect resource for me and am very happy with my score of 176. One thing to note is that this book does not contain any full practice exams and has a limited number of drills. There are of course the 4 free tests offered through LawHub, which he does mention. My recommendation is to also make a free Khan Academy account and to use that in conjunction with this book. They have 13 full practice tests with explanations of all of the answers after you complete the test. They also have practice questions for each different kind of question.
