Hi Helen, Thank you for your interest in this Russell Hobbs iron. To fill the iron with water, move the variable steam selector, under the handle to the no steam position. Holding the iron upside down with the heel rest facing up, firmly press and hold the water-fill button to open the funnel for the water tank. Using a clean measuring cup, pour water into the opened funnel until water reaches the MAX level mark on the side of the water tank. Do not overfill. Release the waterfill button. Tilt the iron over the sink to remove any remaining water. Stand the iron up on its heel rest. If you need further assistance, I’d be happy to help!
