We Should Never Meet

I initially bought this for my Asian American studies course so I did not think much of it. But when I started reading it, I could not put it down. It’s a wonderful book and I love how the author made each chapter about a different character. All of them manages to tie together so beautifully! The author humanizes the characters in different ways and make them feel relatable. Highly recommend the book!

This is the first published novel by Aimee Phan, an up and coming author who writes about the Vietnam experience in her native country and in America. Her writing is exquisite, even though some of the stories are gritty and heart wrenching. Although an enlightening look at the challenges faced by newcomers to this country, it could be the story of newcomers to any country, no matter where they are from.This is an author to watch and enjoy.

At first was skeptical about the book since it was confusingin the first chapters. However getting deeper in the book it got really interesting. Interesting different stories!

This was a very unique book in the way Phan ends every chapter on a cliff hanger. This is not a hard read. This book is a very thought provoking of the Vietnamese American POV.

I read this book for my Asian American Studies class, I had really enjoyed it. The book has interrelating short stories, some parts were more interesting than others. Overall, it was a good and quick read.

I chose this rating because the book is interesting, but it just didn't have a good ending. It kind of got me daydreaming on some parts
