Transformed...A Daily Response and Shift
I'm not big on the 'Transformed Life' type of books. My thought...we become 'transformed' while being absorbed in God's word. This book though comes at from a different angle, which I do like. That is, the "shift" as they call it. They reveal 7 shifts beginning with from 'Me to You'. I understand their second shift from 'Slave to Child', but at the same time recognize that Paul uses the word "slave" or "servant" many times. Though I get where the book is coming from, still I think that they should have touched on this fact and why Paul uses such terminology. That said, I would recommend this book and its companion video series. The speaker on the video is very dynamic.

Awesome Book on the Effects of the Holy Spirit
I love this book. I bought several copies to share with others. This book challenges us to see Scripture, Christ, and the work of the Holy Spirit as ongoing and life transforming. The book is not a "This is what you need to do" but more of a "If Christ is living in you, these things should be taking place". I love it. Great use of Scripture. Great personal stories. This book is the complete package for anyone looking to grow in their faithwalk.

Needed to focus more on following God's lead
The book made for a thought provoking and discussion filled small group study. One of its strengths was that it provided an overall awareness and understanding of the types of changes that occur during the maturing process of the Christian walk. One of its weaknesses is that it encourages each of us to map out our own spiritual road map, where we target the shifts we want to make during the upcoming year. This approach feels more like "self help" and does not emphasize enough the following of God's lead to guide and direct our lives in ways that produce these shifts of the soul, even if His ways may be hard for us to understand. Ultimately only God can shift our soul, and the book could have been better balanced by spending more time on this aspect of soul shifts.

Shift out of complacency
Sometimes it feels like a shift is actually a cataclysm, intent on destruction rather than blessing. DeNeff and Drury show us the positives of shifts in our souls and churches.Thought provoking, humorous, intense, and light hearted, SoulShift is a book you will want to read, dig into, spend some time with, and employ for personal and congregational steps forward in the Christian life.SoulShift is worthwhile, even if you feel out of place in a church, for these shifts will make us all better people.

Maybe better taught than read
Excellent message and laid out well. Some chapters had so many points to make in defining the shift area that I nearly got lost. In that way the book seemed to lend itself to being used in a group setting where all the ideas and issues could be brought out, discussed, and applied in deeper measure. The message is so needed so I want to encourage others to read it, or perhaps better still, get several copies and form a study group around it.

One of Many
This is one of a whole shelf full of spiritual development books available today. The approach is a bit different, focusing on "shifting" your soul. In order for the concept to be valid, one has to accept the notion that the soul can be shifted by a simple decision to do so. But, accepting that, the book has the flavor of "do this instead of that" and become a better Christian. There seems to be a logical flaw in the notion, for example, that, I can focus on making myself better by not focusing on myself. Others in a study group, however, have found the book useful and would rate it higher.

A guideline for spiritual health
How can I know that I am really changing and allowing the Holy Spirit to have control over my life? Change. It is impossible to have a living relationship with God, through the Holy Spirit and not be changed. There are actual markers that show us that we are dying to self and living to God. This book helps by getting us thinking about what is in my life and how it is affecting me. I highly recommend this book for Adult Bible Studys or just plain teaching!

Amazin uplifting book
Sometimes we try and try to do it all right and still come up short. This book explains in laymans terms how we don't have to. But at the same time it will make you want to once you get a clearer picture of the Lord God and His truly amazing love for us. WOW! Not overnight, but all in His time. Love this book and will keep it at the fore front of my library just to remind me when I need reminding.
