Second time we replaced filters we discovered the waste water faucet outlet was clogged with mineral deposits. That means the filtration system was doing a good job. It took 3 years to get so clogged that it impeded performance (waste water mixing with filtered water). Other than that maintenance issue, this is an outstanding system.

WARNING. You will probably need to get a strap wrench to open membrane housing. It is screwed on very, very tight. Most people won't be able to open it with their bare hands. While Apec sells a specialized wrench just for this job, you can get a general purpose strap wrench for the same price that does this job and other jobs. So I'd say the strap wrench is a better idea. You may also need a way to secure the housing -- with a vise, for example. If you don't have a vise, you may be able to use two strap wrenches going in opposite directions.The pricing is a few dollars cheaper than the manufacturer's if you take into account the shipping. If you're buying this you already have the counter top system, so you know the filters are about half the price of the entire system. But what else is in the system -- just some tubes and a case? That makes the system seem expensive.

This is the best RO system I have tried. When I purchased the filter pack had a snag with one filter (my fault) and the company responded quickly , hung in there with me, and solved the problem. After being with out the RO water to make my tea and coffee for a few days the difference was stark and will stick with this system.

I got these filters for my APEC countertop reverse osmosis water filter. We rent so this is the best water filter for our needs. These filters work as they should. Just make sure you secure them well and you shouldn't have any leaks. I was getting water from the tap at 220 ppm unfiltered and about 5-12 ppm filtered with this.

They need to provide a quick flow chart of the flow with visuals. Get rid of all the words. Just pictures. One simple diagram. That's all you need to know.It's very difficult to discern without reading the instructions for 20 minutes, especially when you get the paper wet and you need to go put it in front of a fan to be able to read it later, so you're improvising.

Purchase this to remove arsenic from well water. Works as advertised.

Extremely pleased with Apec performance. They've lasted longer than I expected. Only advice for the company is the when you need technical information. I tried to get info on adapter sizes and which of their own to purchase to adapt to my standard hose faucet connector. Also wanted a pump recommendation from their own supplies. That was a less than helpful experience overall. Nice people. Quality products, but I ended up needing to answer the questions on my own by researching which was difficult for such specific products. But the quality and long lasting nature of their products still made for worthwhile purchases.
