Medline Ultra Lightweight Transport Wheelchair for Adults, Foldable, 19-Inch Seat Width, Red Frame, Black Upholstery

I had spent a good 16 hours, if not more, on the internet searching for a transport chair I could handle (lift) with my bad back, and was affordable. I am 77 with a diagnosis of spinal stenosis. There was no way I could port around, taking in and out of a car or van, a full size wheelchair. I do have a regular wheelchair and it weighs close to 50 pounds. Trying to lift this chair by myself in and out of my trunk or cargo area of my SUV was impossible for me to do without assistance. I travel fairly frequently both domestic and internationally and have a traveling companion with me to assist with pushing the chair. My traveling companion however, lives 1800 miles from me. I usually fly to meet him and we then leave from his house to destinations all over the world. My biggest challenge right now is getting to his house from mine. I live in the rural Midwest, and 110 miles from the closest airport I can fly out of. So I must have the ability to transport a chair from my house to the airport and in some cases going through 1 or 2 connecting airports, requiring me to claim my luggage and then recheck the luggage, at times including my checked chair, for the next leg of my trip. This was a daunting task while dealing with a 50 pound wheelchair. Ain’t going to happen where I am now at, with limited mobility and lifting strength.Along came the Medline Ultralight chair. When they say ultralight, 15 lbs., they are not kidding. Absolutely no problem for me to first getting the chair into my car and van and back out to check in at the airport, as well as a checked bag and carryon. After getting to an airport shuttle with chair and bags and arrive at the airport for check in, I easily open the chair and set it up for being pushed. With the chair aiding me to take my luggage and the chair to check in, it becomes an easy task to get to my flight from there. At the counter, I take my bags out of the chair, fold up the chair for transport and check it as luggage along with my bag. I then wait for my airline wheelchair assistance that takes me and my carryon to the gate. Once at my destination, using airline wheelchair assistance again, get wheeled to bag claim, meet my travel assistant at bag claim, pick up my checked bag and the chair and we head off to our next adventure.I cannot tell you how well this chair is constructed and so easy to unfold and fold up for transport. I am still amazed at the light weight of the chair, and yet how well constructed and sturdy it is at the same time. I was skeptical about how sturdy the chair may be, but it is solid as a rock and very comfortable to sit in. Nothing looks or feels cheap about this chair. After taking this chair out of the box it came in, it took no more then 10 minutes to have the chair completely put together and ready for transport use. I could not have been more pleased with the purchase of the Medline Ultralight transport chair. I am sure you will be pleased as well if you purchase this chair. My mom can no longer walk when we go to Dr's. This chair is perfect. I can easily fold it and put it in the backseat or cargo area of the car by myself. It's very lightweight. She is comfortable for extended periods in it. It's easy push even uphill or over bumpy sidewalks. My only complaint is that the brakes are on the rear wheels all the way near the ground. She doesn't wait for me to lock the wheels and gets in or out and I have to hold the chair still. Would love brakes on the handles but other than that this is a very helpful chair.

Ready to go right out of the box! Extremely lightweight, foldable and fits easily in the trunk of my Camry. Feels pretty solid during use and is easy to push and comfortable enough for trips to the store. Foot rests are removable. I would recommend this chair to anyone looking for a lightweight, easily folding chair for trips to the store.

This is a great travel wheelchair ! You DO need some one to push you since the wheels are to small for the passenger to reach. It has beed wonderful to get to appointments since back surgery. It is incredibly lightweight , easy to assemble and folds up small.

Red chair came pretty much assembled, it folds easily and is indeed much lighter than my mother’s original chair. I can easily lift it into and out of my trunk. The locking balls on the fold up handles don’t seem to lock into place as easily or stay in without a little fondling it into place on the left side but, it will lock in. I do enjoy how the leg supports fold back flatly and have a snap in attachment and they do fall off the chair when I’m lifting it into and out of the car trunk, but go back on easily.

We got this for my parents - my elderly dad has health issues and needs wheelchair assistance sometimes. This chair works really well because my mom (85 years old) can lift it herself to put it in the car and take it out. We needed something light weight, but durable. My dad is 6 ft and 200 lbs for reference and he fits well in this chair and feels like it is sturdy and well built. I would recommend if you need a lightweight reliable transport chair.

Arrived well packaged and very easy for me to set up. I already had a transport chair which I use in my kitchen. At times I have used the chair in my bedroom when rearranging my dresser drawers, etc. or in my garage for while sorting donation items. Then it dawned on me I should get another transport chair, primarily for my bedroom. But I delayed thinking I needed at least $200. Finally got around to looking on Amazon. I found this chair at an affordable price. It is lighter in weight than my first chair, but just as comfortable and easy to maneuver. It folds easily; I don't use the foot supports . My husband is a big guy and he had no problems pushing me or even using the chair as I do. We are pleased with the quality of this transport chair and anticipate many years of service.

Based on our experience, this is a great transport chair whether from one room to another or from home to wherever. Light, easy to collapse, easy to put the foot rests on or take off. Narrow enough to get through any door way down to about 26" wide, wheels big enough to get over small thresholds, easily fits in the back of even our Honda Fit. My only criticism would be an easy one to correct. With most wheel chairs, when you do meet a bump like a threshold, you can, as the "driver", press down on an extension to the bottom front to back tube that usually sticks out about 4-5" that helps you raise the front wheels to get up and over the obstruction. On this one, that tube stops short of being able to use it to lever the front wheels up and over. It helps a bit but not enough. Even another inch or two would help a lot and since the existing tube stops short of the outer edge of the wheels in the back, there is plenty of room to accommodate such an extension without making the chair more bulky. And the wheels themselves are lovely and smooth, even chushy if that is an expression that can be used. So I would certainly recommend this product.
