Miele Coffee Pot CJ1

Works as advertised, but seems a complex solution to a pot of coffee.

I was searching for a very good quality coffee pot and this one filled my every need. Compact, 40+ ounces, size and dimension correct. The brand is well known and works well with my Jura Z10 coffee maker.

While the stainless steel carafe was of good quality and design, I feel it was still exorbitantly overpriced.

It works better than any alternative I have found. However it is hardly Meile quality.

Don't get me wrong, it's a fine double-walled insulated pot that holds 8 Miele-sized "cups" (so 4 regular human mugs). It's a basic functional design - a stainless steel jug with a black plastic rim and lid. The handle is plastic and attached to the rim with a little stainless steel trim for aesthetics, which is good because it doesn't transfer the heat but does mean you need a very steep pouring angle to get any coffee out. The slider on the lid, once warm, slides comfortably and securely with a reassuring click at either end. The lid itself can be twisted off for easy cleaning. But be warned, this is not dishwasher safe. And in an unusual design fail from Miele this doesn't quite fit on the drip tray of the machine. That's not to say it's going to fall off, but about a quarter of the pot sticks out. Really quite unsure why this doesn't ship as standard with the machines and needs to be purchased as an accessory. I would say, as with all Miele products, "reassuringly expensive" but for something Made In China that Amazon shipped in it's single walled unsealed retail box with a shipping label smacked on the side, spectacularly underwhelming on it's presentation.

I thought it said in the product description that it held 8 cups of coffee. IT DOESN’T! It is very small and probably only holds 6 cups, or 3-4 smaller mugs. This is a high quality carafe and nicely insulated, but don’t think it is going to hold much volume!

For the price this pot feels very cheap and plastic - also only holds enough for 4-5 regular cups of coffee (10Oz pours) and does not fit the coutnertop machines well (about to fall off the machine when brewing). Seems like a cash grab and not up to miele normal standards, we are sending ours back likely.

I had resisted buying this as I thought it over-priced. When the opportunity came to buy at a reduced over price, I took it. The way Miele designed the espresso machine means that no other carafe will fit. Quality is OK, but I've had carafes that keep the coffee hot longer.
