Smoke alarm
I got these for my Granddaughter who had a small cooker fire but no functioning smoke alarm. Kids reached for something on the cooker, accidentally turned plate on, which burned a box on the cooker.

Direct replacement for my old one , not that easy to install bit fiddly but a solid smoke alarm and nice and neat

Compact, easy to install and no false alarms from cooking. Good value and comes with battery. Very loud though, which is a good thing, but any pets should be in another room when testing.

Good Alarm.
Perfect alarm, this was to replace a similar one which was installed over 12 years ago by the fire brigade (that one had a none replaceable battery) this one battery needs replacing probably after a few years, it has a cut off button so if you accidently burn the toast just press and it cancels. Previous alarm was by the same company and I had no problems with that one, so far so good with this one. Almost 2 years since alarm was fitted still it is working perfectly and I do ocassionaly burn the toast, I have alarm at bottom of stairs which are near (6ft or so) from kitchen if alarm goes off I can easily reach cancel button. Battery not replaced yet.

Kidde 29HDRB Smoke Alarm Is Now Smaller
When You Purchase This Alarm It's Best To Read The Simple Manual So That You Understand The Small Arm That Flicks Out When You Remove The Battery Which Has Been Placed The Wrong Way For Delivery Purposes And That Sprung Little Arm Has To Be Placed Back And Tucked Away While Fitting The Battery The Correct Way. If This Alarm Is A Replacement Of Your Old Kidde Alarm It Maybe Be A Shock That The New Version Is Alot Smaller So You Might Have To Plug Up Your Old Mounting Holes. Reading The Manual First Before Fitting The Battery So That You Understand When Testing The Unit A Certain Time Limit Has To Pass So It Keeps Quiet And The Red LED Still Blinks=Correct Mode For Use. I Understand Why The Size Has Got Smaller And Looking Inside My Old Kidde Alarm There Is Loads Of Spare Space. The Price Is Very Reasonable I Think For An Item That Can Give You A Warning That Something Is Going Wrong In That Area. Also The Battery Is Replaceable To Continue Use.

Neat smoke detector
Looks quite good for one of these, easy to fit and test. Purchased to replace 10 year old detector

Faulty
Same issue as a minority of buyers of this smoke alarm. Woken up at 03:30 to a full on alarm, panic ensues etc, turns out to be a faulty device and followed by a restless night. Avoid.
