Ok, I read the reviews and knew what to expect before they arrived. And, I have electrical experience so I knew that the modifications required would be no problem. However, when Saturday morning arrived, I was surprised at how easy and quickly the install went. The units arrived the day before in two days (prime member here) in a long Amazon box. They were individually packed in their own tubular cardboard containers with plastic protectors over the pins. Plastic film protected the lense. There is very little noise to speak of but there is a 1.5 second turn-on delay, but really no longer than the the blinking startup of the fluorescents being replaced. Only two units were needed to get the same output as four fluorescent tubes; four LEDs would have been overpowering and expense. Not everything is perfect and these are not. The documentation is bad but the reviews here more than make up for the lack of detail. Also, the color of the light is definitely "Cool White", which is what the builder put in our fixture originally and works best in our application (pantry). The last time we replace the tubes, we used the soft white so these units were a reminder of when things were new. While I was ok with $37ea for LED technology, this was still was expensive compared to a standard fluorescent replacements. My deciding factor to spend the money was the fact that one of the ballasts was failing and I was considering buying and installing a brand new fixture.

They work
Love this light. Yeah maybe a little expensive but when you subtract the $18.00 for the Ballast (yeah we have an expensive one)that goes out every 3-4 months, these will pay for themselves very quickly. Took very little time to figure how to wire them with the removal of the ballast resistor. A heck of a lot more simple than dealing with the multitude of wires needed for the Fluorescents.PLUS 2 of these bulbs emit more light than the 4 fluorescent bulbs in the same 4 bulb socket/mounting assembly. Nice white light, brighter than the Fluorescent's, a good pattern and the office staff had to get accustomed to it. Others say they take a little time to come on after hitting the light switch, but we haven't noticed that at all. We just just used the same wires in the assy from the Fluor's to rewire the pin sockets. Do remember that they are one way. i.e. they will only light up with the electrical current in one direction, just as with all LED's.

Effective lights that act like fluorescent
I now have 6 of these bulbs in my garage and I like the light much better. The instructions said to use non-shunted tombstones and, not knowing what I had, I ordered some and replaced mine but not sure I needed to. Once I got into the light fixtures, I saw 2 of the original 12 were broken so I guess replacing them wasn't too bad. These lights are brighter light, not warm white, and perfect for the garage. They do take about 1 to 1.5 seconds to come on so when they're turned on they look like fluorescent when they start up. I added a Z-Wave light switch and these come on after the garage door opens (only at night) and my family really likes the amount of light now available.

UPDATE: I've been using these lights now for about a year and a half and one of the two tubes died on me. I do like the bright light and low power consumption, but if I have to replace them this often then it just isn't worth the money.I modified the fixture in my garage today in about 30 minutes and installed the new LED lights. The instructions that come in the packing tube were straight forward. I reused the original wire nuts that were inside my fixture. When I turned them on the first time there was a space of about 3 inches at one end that didn't light up. Very disappointing. I decided to put the light up anyway and when I turned it on again it all lit up and worked fine. If the 3 inch gap comes back I'll update this review but for now it seems to be working fine.

LED fluorescent replacement
I have now gone back to my original fluorescent bulbs. One-half of both LED tubes quit working. If you want a picture of what went wrong and how to fix it, email me.I knew that this type of bulb was going to be expensive. The cost is about 7x that of a fluorescent tube, but I only need two of them. I leave these lights on in the kitchen about 14 hrs a day. These LEDs allowed me to eliminate the ballast. Installation was fairly easy. Make SURE the power to lights is OFF. I cut two wires from ballast to the fixture, stripped the ends, and routed them to the black and white wires of the power. One prong on the LED light is marked H for hot. Hot is the side that gets connected to the black wire from the power. I marked an H with a marker on the side of the LED and did a trial install into the fixture. I could see which side of the fixture was on the LEDs HOT side. The wire from this side of the fixture goes to the Black wire from power. I had a two tube fixture so I put both LED in to make sure that what was the Hot on one LED followed over to the Hot of the other tube, which it did in this case. This is more difficult to write than to actually do. Just go over the wiring several times to make sure that you're sure, that you're sure that you got it right. I admit I still hid behind a corner when I turn the switch on. It takes about a second to come on. Worked perfectly. I'm glad I did this LED replacement even at the cost. Also you might note that LEDs can be dimmed for some applications. After 3 months of use about 14 hrs per day half of one bulb had gone out! I had the hope of this lasting for years. Dumb me. You have 30 day warranty and must pay shipping both ways. I like the bulbs but, LET THE BUYER BEWARE!!I bought two of these in Sept 2013 and by mid Jan 2014 half of both tubes have gone out. I won't buy these again!!

Worked as stated.
These are the first of 14 tubes to be replaced. When fist power on there is half second delay but nothing to be really concerned with as subsequent times turn on and off is fast. Do make sure you have Non Shunting T8 tombstone ends. If you not sure then check with an qualified electrician. Have the electrician check your wiring if your a DO-IT-YOURSELF person. Be sure to pay the extra cost for UL approved. I have heard it said that insurance companies will not pay a claim if you have non UL approved devices. Make sure you also label the fixture as have only LED tubes and power from one end. This help someone whoever buys you house not to install regular fluorescent tubes. The voltage is 120 V directly but be sure the wiring has correct polarity (neutral and Live). The ballast transformer and the start are removed as they are not need for the LED installation. Wiring instruction are provided. If your are the slightest bit unsure then call a qualified electrician.
