Meniere Man And The Astronaut. The Self Help Book For Meniere's Disease (Meniere Man Mindful Recovery)

Over priced, over hyped?
At maybe 3 or 4 dollars it may be worth it, maybe. Listed at 160 pages I have no idea how they came up with the number. Took all of 30 minutes to read, as much fluff as not. Some basic information as to the mechanics, specific drugs that are recommended, and nutritional supplements. The first two rather rudimentary, the last very debatable. Either way all of this is available for free from other sources. A good share is on alternative medicines administrated by practitioners not available to the average bear, nor were most followed through by the author. I would recommend it to family and friends -- from the library. For those afflicted, a Ear, Nose & Throat and audiologist who have a working relationship with each other and you are essential. I also don't understand why an Ophthalmologist and or a Retinologist are not recommended more. The connection between you eyes and ears are vital. The study as to any relation to autoimmune diseases seems to lacking. In short I do agree with the author that knowledge is sorely lacking and for those that believe this book to be of a help, that I certainly can't argue

But I would love to report in 12 months from now
The book is full of encouragement for those that have Meniere's symptoms. It has been very helpful to me. Every patient may have a different response to diet, exercise and other therapies....but I would say it is worth reading the book and trying the suggestions the author proposes. I am in the process of following everything regarding diet, exercise and anxiety therapy and it seems to improve the symptoms (so far...only 4 weeks on the trial). But I would love to report in 12 months from now. In any case, my attitude has changed and now I am willing to do better.

Wow! What a great book!
This was a great purchase! It has really helped my husband. There is no cure for Meniere's, but this book has helped my husband [and me] realize he can live and live well with the disease. His attitude about himself and his responsibility to take control of his life has become such a positive thing that I believe he is healthier and happier than he has been in a long time. There is no magic here...just good common sense with inspirational words that stick with him and guidelines for living a good life with a rough disease. Thank you, Meniere Man.

Nice enough book
Nice enough book, but I do not find it mentally satisfying to read about that which I can so identify with - it just depresses me. I guess I'm not a "help group" sort of person, but this does not mean it will not help some. For me, just too real.

Excellent read for family or individuals with Meniere's
My mother has Meniere's - diagnosed about 3 years ago. We've been to numerous doctor's, gone through job loss, financial hardships and soul searching. This book literally outlined much of what my mother and our family have experienced. It is helpful, uplifting and reminds Meniere's survivors to take back their lives. Many of the recommendations are very useful and I think helpful tools to maintain a sense of normalcy and support when Meniere's attacks present themselves. My mother has been reading the book over the weekend and really likes it. Recommend this book.

Worthwhile read if recently diagnosed with menieres
I bought this hoping for some concrete help on dealing with menieres disease symptoms but that's not what this book is for. The author discusses his mental strategies for dealing, but not the physical elements of the disease. Instead of tips for avoiding dizzy spells it's more a motivational self - help book for staying positive in light of this crummy disease. If you need some positive affirmation that it's not as bad as you think this is the way to go . Very casual writing style and easy to finish in one long sitting.

Living with Meniere’s.
Ménière’s disease isn’t a very misunderstood disease. I was recently diagnosed with it this book has given me some hope and insight as to how I might have less attacks and be able to live a more “normal” life. It is a book I will refer to often.

Good basic advice, too subjective, inspirational rather than sound medical info.
Who is the Meniere Man? I wondered because when I was reading the book, everything sounded so stereotypical. A successful business man with too much stress needs to re-manage his life. Like a publisher asked some author who has a medical background to read up and Google this disease and then invent an inspirational story. But even if the story and the man are real, it is nothing more than a very subjective approach. Mind over matter, think positively, walk more, set goals etc. Everything sounds like the typical American Optimism. But there are people out there who have Meniere, although they dont have any stress. Meniere is not a life-style problem, but a disease. You cannot just think it right. Rather than this motivational program, I expected a more medical and rational approach. The actual medical info that was given in the book, can be googled and summed up in 30min on the Internet.

Unreadable on Kindle
Unfortunately the contents of this book were completely unreadable on my Kindle. The words were too small and when enlarged overlapped and over wrote each other. This is defenately not a criticism of the content, as I couldn't read any of the book, so it could be excellent or not. I tried on another of my Kindles and had the same results. I was very disappointed as I really wanted to read this book. I will try to get hold of a hard copy version and then update this review.

OK Meniere Man
As a long time sufferer of Meniere's Disease I bought this wondering how different it would be to the other books around and found it a little too much like them. Meniere Man is a very smart person as he has written a group of these books and has put them on the market at a reasonable price, knowing full well that, if he had put them all into 1 book he would have not made anywhere near as much money, so well done him for that. However, everybody is different with this horrible condition and what helps one person may not help another. He tells us about how he no longer has the symptoms due to his regime and I am pleased for him but I say to him "don't hold your breath". Mine started in 1996 and from 1999 I had little or no symptoms at all until 2010 when everything went horrific until 2013 when I had very few symptoms, and it all started again in 2014. For most people the vertigo does burn out after a while and the disease becomes much more manageable, as long as it does not go bi-lateral into the other ear like mine! There is a 40%-75% chance of this. Some very good information, although it is available elsewhere.

Thank you Ménière's Man, whoever you are!
This book really helped me when I felt down about having Menieres. It helped me find out there was so much I could do to help myself and maybe even see some benefits! Life changing.
