I have now had this knife 15 months ,use it every day and it is still like a razor. You must use the sharpener, and yes! it actually sharpens the knife unlike some brands; do not be tempted to use the sharpener on any other knives as you could damage the sharpener. I am just about to order some same brand smaller pairing knives. For the price this is a superb buy, can not believe the quality/price.
