Models SB2C-3 Helldiver Model Building Kit, Wing Tech Series, Scale 1/72

Great deal for the money, but not worth what the full price would have been.

I like the model ..... with one exception ----- the dive brakes, while positionable, are just plane brass with no perforations (like the real plane) and are no way very realistic.

I had read good reviews on this kit, And while 1/72 is not my preferred scale, I wanted the CH kit. For me, it was a bad choice. I'm not a rivet counter and the Helldiver would be hard to mistake for a beautiful aircraft, but it is aggressive looking, with a touch of Gothic thrown in. I started putting it together and immediately ran into fit problems. Lots of them. The engineering for this kit was poor at best, nothing fit well, and the little Hell Diver proved to be very "Hellish". The final blow was that the Metal PE supposedly contains the dive brakes and flaps, were uncut, and just a solid piece of metal sheet. In the end, a short build ended up a long build, and the kit now resides in the local landfill. I could have gotten another PE sheet, but I had had enough misery. Maybe it will be a better build for you. My Age is 63, I have well over 50 years modeling experience, I am a civil engineer by trade.
