Great information!
Love the way it is written for anyone to understand. Short read with great information. Definitely recommend for more technique ideas.

Great for EMS. No fluff.
A quick read with just pertinent information and zero fluff. I’ve recommended this book to several of my EMS/Fire coworkers, and everyone has found something in the book that has improved their IV success rate. We ended up buying a physical copy for the station so employees for years to come can read it.

Great for bolstering confidence.
A helpful read to build confidence as you become comfortable with venipuncture. After multiple failures I was really beginning to psych myself out with IV starts. Reading through this offered a couple points I hadn't thought about, and helped bolster confidence as I continued trying to improve my success rate. Truthfully, there is no substitute for practice. No book will suddenly make you great at starting IVs. Only constant practice can make you better at IVs. That said, there are many ways to build confidence in your approach to venipuncture which can make you better at it more quickly. I do think reading this book was helpful in that regard.

Some good tips…
I’m a newer RN, with my previous career being one where I initiated many phlebotomy sticks. I was looking for a book to increase my IV start success. While this book had some great tips, there were only 1 or 2 tips that were new to me. Everything else was something I had already come across with my own research it speaking with veteran nurses on my floor. If you are someone that likes photos, you will probably not be satisfied with this book. There is a huge lack of photos and all of the photos that are included are in black and white. The author tries to explain techniques with words, but without an accompanying picture demonstrating these techniques, it can be very hard to visualize what he is actually trying to say. This was an easy read, but overall a bit disappointing. I am not sure if presented with the opportunity that I would purchase this book again.*All tips are found in the books appendix. If you know every tip on the list in this photo, then you could probably skip this read.

Great book
Before reading the book, I had done over 70 peripheral intravenous lines with a success rate of approximately 60% on the first stick. After studying, taking notes, and applying Bob's knowledge, my average has increased to higher than 90%. In one month, my average increased by +30%. Buy the book even if you think that you are good at IV. Thanks, Bob Rynecki, for taking the time to write this book. My patients really appreciate Bob's book even if they do not know who Bob is.

Useful and thorough. Great for newbies!...Good review for experienced
I recommend this book for newbies and experienced, (to review and update). I am experienced but have been blowing sticks lately. Bought this as just a review to see if I could pick up a tip or two. The book is easy to read, no fluff, has good descriptions and useful photos. I wish I had had this book when I was a brand new nurse. I learned what is in this book the hard way (for my pts as well). I bought another book on starting IV sticks as well. I definitely prefer this book. This book is more thorough, better descriptions, more info. The other book I bought did have a useful list of antidotes in case of extravasation. Would like to see that added to this book.

great tips!
Loaded with some great tips. It's just hard to conceptualize a few of them; some things just have to be seen vs explained. It would be awesome to have Bob create a video series on Youtube.

Educational for new paramedics.
As a new paramedic I found these hints helpful. I wish there were more photographs that showed the examples the author tried to convey.
