Columbia Redmond mid - great hiker, great value, great for wide feet
Excellent light weight hikers. I have a very wide foot, between 2-3E, and these boots fit perfectly. Ordered a half size up on length based on reviews, I have a 10.5 but went to 11 with this boot. Other then wearing them around my yard for a few hours the first time I put them to use was on a 8.6mi round trip hike in the pacific northwest in the Snoqualmie Region -- Snoqualmie Pass outside of Seattle. I intended to stay at the top at Lake Melawka and make it a two day trip but it was raining the entire day so I decided to head back down once at the top due to weather, vs being trapped inside my small 1 man tent all night. The hike is 2500' of elevation gain over the 8.6mi of steep terrain covered in large rock, scree and loose talus for most of the hike. It's a steep grade all the way up. The Columbia Redmond mid performed great. Despite the constant and steady rain my foot stayed 100% dry, the mid-ankle support was enough to keep me stabilized on the loose rock and steep grade even with the 30 lb pack on. The shoe, virtually right out of the box, caused no discomfort in the over 7+ hours of hiking I did that day. These are great for traveling due to the light weight as well, I brought them with me from Boston to Seattle. Overall this boot is an outstanding value, excellent for someone with a wide foot and the waterproofing is outstanding. Would strongly recommend

Columbia Please Bring this Version of the Redmond Back!!!!!
I've been buying the original version of the Redmond Waterproof Mens, in both the Mid and Trail Shoe style, since about 2014 and I love them! Columbia discontinued the original version of the Redmond Waterproof about 3 years ago and I miss them. They are the best shoe I have ever owned. Period. What did I like about them? They fit snug around my foot and gave good arch support and, best of all, they really are waterproof. I'm a delivery driver on the Northern Plains so I walk through a lot of weather and the Redmonds could handle it all. Columbia, please bring the original version of this shoe back!

Nice boot but it is small.
I have less than 20 miles on these but thought I could review them none the less. I normally wear size 12m (US). These boots feel a half size small. I need to wear lightweight socks with them because medium weight socks make the boot fit too tight. I can't even get the boots on with my winter socks. When I wear the appropriate socks, the boots are comfortable and offer very good support. The arch is fine for me and the heel doesn't wander. The toe box is tight and this is where it would be nice to have the extra half size. They are warm even with the lightweight socks but this is fine as I will use them in the colder weather anyway. No doubt they are warm because of the waterproofing, this attribute I haven't been able to check because the weather so far has been rather dry. Most of my "hiking" is the urban variety so I will probably never test the limits of the boots ruggedness. I usually just wear out my boots as opposed to having them fail through use. Hopefully I'll get a few years worth of walking before the soles wear through.Update April 2020; 4 star is right for these boots. I've put a few hundred miles on these in all types of weather. They are wearing well. They still run warm so I don't wear them when the temp exceeds 75. They are not water "proof" but are very resistant. Heavy rains do not penetrate but water will get in if you walk through multiple puddles.

Excellent shoe for the money
Most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. Light weight and durable. Note: They do run small, so order 1 full size larger than you normally would to insure proper fit. Zero break in required. To my surprise, they were waterproof as advertised. In addition to being my "go to shoe" for daily wear, I also walk 3-6 miles per day, on mostly asphalt. The bottoms are made of somewhat softer material than most hikers, which is great for cushion and support, very easy on your feet but the asphalt wore them faster than I had anticipated. In spite of that, I still give these shoes 5 stars and I like them so much, I always keep a backup pair.

Good Quality Shoe ...NOT waterproof
These shoes are well made and comfortable. I enjoy wearing them. I only take issue at the claim that they are waterproof. One short walk through wet grass which was only about 3-4 inches tall, and my socks were soaked. I'm a bit disappointed because I was actually looking for waterproof (or at least water resistant) boots and these were marketed as such. Otherwise, if you don't anticipate any damp hikes, they would be fine.I am amending this review. I purchased these shoes in late January and have worn them only infrequently and not in any extreme hiking scenarios. The right shoe now has a hole in the fabric where my little toe is located and the left one is starting to get a hole to match. Poor materials used in construction. Unfortunately, my return window closed in February.

Great bang for the buck.
This is my second pair of hiking boots I've purchased. I am impressed with the quality and comfort of these shoes. They seem to fit especially well on my narrow feet. I prefer the mid style not so much for the extra support, but for keeping out rocks and trail debris out better than regular cut shoes. They are pretty lightweight too.The soles are very grippy on hills and wet surfaces.Very reasonably priced for a quality product.I like the way they look too. Kind of retro. They remind me of 1920 basketball shoes.I received my order in 3 or 4 days.If you're a hiker with narrow feet and like a mid cut boot, I'd highly recommend trying Columbia.

Comfortable, quality boot
I wear anywhere from a 9 to 10 depending on the shoe. Got these in a 9.5 and they fit well. Took them up to the Adirondacks and about five miles into my first hike they felt a little tight in the toes. Before my next hike, a mountain trail, I loosened the laces at the bottom and had no issues. I encountered mud and water and they are definitely waterproof. Also worked great on solid rock and gripped well. They got me up and down a 4,000 ft peak with no issues and in good comfort. Only put about 15 miles on them so far so not sure about long term durability. Overall a very comfortable, light and waterproof boot.
