My old one got worn out after 30 years
Expecting this to last until I don't feel like sharpening any more knives

Removes material
If you need to remove some material, this is the right stone for it. It cuts well and sets a good edge to hone down with finer stones. Because it removes so much material you will want to float this stone often with some light oil, I use Hoppes gun oil.

Direct replacement for my old red hone
Direct replacement for the red hone in my Lansky system. This system has lasted me 19 years and countless knives sharpened, and the plastic around the thumb screw broke when I tightened it down recently. This one replaces it perfectly and gets me back to sharpening. The Lansky system is a great tool, allowing you to hold an angle that I otherwise can't hold exactly. I've owned whetstones for sharpening razors and have tried my knives on them, but the Lansky does a better job for me for knives.

Great coarse stone
Must have stone for the Lansky system. Cuts quickly, cleans well and lasts quite a long time. Works well on any steels I’ve used it on thus far.

First one lasted 25+ years
After hundreds, if not thousands of knife sharpenings, the hone that came with my original set was showing some wear. If this one performs as well as the first, it'll pay for itself dozens of times over.

Useful addition to Lansky system ...
Great for re-profiling or removing small chips from the blade.I have coarse diamond ones in my Lansky kit but sometimesI prefer using the stone for re-profiling certain steels.

PARFAIT...
pour dégrossir et commencer un bon affutage. Pour le nettoyage j'ai un petit aimant néodyme, récupérer sur un vieux disque dur, c'est parfait !
