Cal Hawk Tools CPLWC8 7.5" Steel Wire Cutter (2-Pack)

 Have only made a few cuts so far, but it went right through this 1/8" cable with no problem. This video is me cutting it with one hand while I held my phone to video this.

Works great, don't know why you'd spend more. Only question surrounds the warranty. Almost all hand tools purchased from brick and mortar stores(even Harbor Freight) come with no-questions-asked lifetime warranties. What happens to this when in breaks?I use it to cut bicycle brake and shifter cable. For this purpose, it works flawlessly. I got it to cut some steel wire for a project. I was a bit skeptical, due to the price and size, but my expectations were exceeded. It cleanly cut through the 1/8'' 7x7 steel wire w/o fraying it. It easily went through the ferrules. I didn't even have to wiggle the cable to get it in.I don't know how long it will last but for me it did its job. I only needed it for a small project. If I'll need it in the future and it stops cutting I will update my review.

Very disappointing - I used this wire cutter in the course of rebuilding one mountain bike. I made about a dozen cuts of bicycle brake and shifter cables with it. By the end of the day it was unable to make a clean cut. This tool is made of metal too mild to hold an edge. If you need a tool that will last look elsewhere.

We were doing a cable railing project which required about 200 cuts of 1/8" stainless steel cable - didn't want to spend the money to buy the expensive cutter as we won't be using it again. Found this pair on Amazon with an ok reviews - but we took our chance and ordered them anyway as the price is very reasonable - we figured even if it became dull after 100 cuts we can buy another one. This turned out not to be necessary and the one pair completed the job beautifully. Clean cut on the wire and after 200 cuts it still very sharp. Highly recommend this item.

I have used it to make about 40 cuts in 1/8th in stainless wire I am installing on my deck. It takes a bit of strong grip to get it to cut but it appears to stay sharp and do the job well, especially for the low price. I'm not sure that they would stand the test of time if used constantly/professionally.

I would have given this three stars, but for the price, I think this is a good product. I bought to cut 1/16 aircraft cable. It works, but you have to be really careful to not get a frayed edge. You can do it, but it's nothing like the ones they have at the home improvement stores when you get it cut there. However, Once I got the hang of it, I was able to get a clean enough cut to thread through the little clampy thing, which was really all I needed. I sometimes had to cut away a could of individual strands that were frayed, but it did work.

These things are fantastic for parachute riggers and aircraft mechanics, or someone who does a lot of work or restoration on bicycles or motorcycles. I'm a rigger. I need to make very precise, very clean cuts without fraying or smashing the ends. These are the right tool for the job. Riggers, these not only cut the cutaway cables and ripcords perfectly, they are the best tool I've found so far for grommet removal.
