Still looks new-ish
Good sturdy backpack on the larger side. This is exactly the size I wanted. Didn't know how the measurements would go just basing it off their diagram but everything worked out. Ok, fitting stuff in is easy, zippers work good everywhere that they are around the backpack. Zippers work good even when the backpack is stuffed to the brim. Straps are curved nicely for a better fit and probably ease on the back from carrying the load. Because this is one of the bigger backpacks, I really do wish the design was more spread out along the backside. The weight that it holds is unknown to me but can feel so heavy when I pick it up from the ground and when worn, makes my son look like a tortoise and I feel bad for him but I am confident that it is one of the best backpacks for the cost. No fraying on the nylon straps. We are 1/2 way through the school year and as rough as my son is, the backpack looks near new. I am impressed. Will probably spray with scotch guard, if necessary, just to help with being water resistant after I see how it holds up in light rain first but the material acts like it may repel on its own.

This is a great backpack. It has lots of compartments to store things and is big. I'm a freshman in high school and it's perfect for carrying all the things I need. There are two big pouches. One has books and the other has my laptop. There is a top small pouch which fits my graphing calculator with some extra room. The tall front pouch fits my pencil case and has smaller compartments for earbuds, pencils, etc. It has lots of space. The front pouch is used for my phone and has lots of extra space. The material is high quality and a nice color. The mesh water bottle holder is also really sturdy. Wouldn't recommend for little kids because it is big. If you are in high school, college or even middle school I would highly recommend this backpack to you. It is fantastic. I am very happy with my purchase.

Good basic pack
This is a well built bag with a surprising amount of room. I had thought I had ordered the Digital Student Backpack, but I guess I mixed myself up in the ordering process. This backpack is fantastic though and I decided to keep it. The material is durable and will be able to withstand a beating, there are a perfect amount of pockets and I really love the front pockets. The material is weather resistant but it can get soaked. I bicycle and bus wherever I go, so I really wanted something durable and simple in design. I've also used targus and trailmaker bags, I wouldn't ever recommend a trailmaker as it could not hold up to heavier weights and weather and within a few weeks of use the strap tore off. Targus also does a good job, but I think this Jansport will do the trick. If I was to compare it to cars, I would call it the honda or toyota, not always the prettiest with a lot of bells and whistles, but guaranteed to last a while.

Great backpack
This semester all my classes are on the same day and my previous backpack just did not have the capacity for everything I needed to carry. I browsed around Amazon and found the JanSport Big Student backpack. When I opened the box, my first thought was that the JanSport wasn't any bigger than my old one. I was wrong! It extended nicely and I was amazed at how easily everything fit. The quality is outstanding. I've got books from 4 classes and all the related paraphernalia in there. My kindle, Ti-84, wallet, keys, pencils, pens, spare batteries, everything. All the different compartments keep everything organized which is important when carrying so much. As you might imagine, the backpack now filled, is heavy, but the firm straps keep the weight distributed comfortably. Outstanding product!Update: 9 may 2013 - After 15 months this backpack still looks almost new and I haven't been exactly gentle with it. Still love it.

Good roomy bag for GRAD student.
So I have been using a messenger bag for the last year, but decided to switch back to a traditional backpack because my back has been killing me. As a grad school student I needed a bag with multiple compartments, and enough room for several heavy binders and books. I had this backpack when I was in highschool (go '04!), and I used to love it so I decided to give it a second go. I still have the old one but it's covered in Sharpie designs.Although I just got this bag in the mail today I can say a few things. Will update the post in a few months.1. It has plenty of room! More than I remembered. I can easily fit my laptop sleeve, 2 binders, multiple notebooks, and other misc objects.2. The zipper is currently annoying- it gets stuck on the inner lining, but I suspect this is because the bag is brand new. Over time I imagine everything will loosen up.3. It is very lightweight- so you are not adding extra weight on top of all the junk you have to carry.4. I am slightly disappointed that the material has changed from the older model. It feels a bit thinner, and the bottom of the bag isn't double lined to insure extra support for carrying heavy things, BUT the bag looks to be made well, and with the company promise I'll just request another if this one breaks.5. The straps will need to be broken in for sure. They do have an internal padding for comfort, but it all feels stiff at the moment.6. I chose the gray- which is pretty similar to the online description image so I'm pleased. Dark enough to hide dirt, but not another black bag added to the collection.7. A main reason I liked this backpack back then was the pencil case that still is present in this one. It's right up front (top zipper) so I never felt like I was digging for something to write with.SO.. yes I do feel a bit dorky as this bag is clearly designed for a highschool student (not really stylish by any means), but I can already carry twice as much as my Patagonia messenger so I'm happy.JANSPORT! Could you possibly offer your bags without the large logo smack in the middle? I think the label defers interest.
