Works Very Well!
It took two tries to get a complete hammer set (the first set was missing several pieces) but with all the pieces, the set is excellent. The design hasn't changed much if at all over the last 50 years. That includes how it's used. I see reviews with complaints of how bad the set works. But some of those complaints include pictures showing the reviewer using the hammer with the ammo inserted backwards! This set also comes with very clear, easy to understand instructions. They just need to be read if you don't already know how to use an impact bullet puller. I haven't tried using this particular puller with shell holders yet. But several older impact hammers were able to use shell holders in place of the collets. My 50 year old hammer worked perfectly with shell holders. I just need to find where that puller has been hiding...

Good for unloading handloads
This puller works great for what its intended for, unloading your reloads on which you made a mistake. I tried pulling the bullet from a factory crimped .224 round. After 20 minutes of banging and pissing off my wife the bullet had pulled out about 2mm from the case and stopped there. That said, it's pretty easy to use. Setup could have been easier if they had shipped the collets preassembled with the o-ring around them. It's a bit of a pain to get the o-ring around the collets as trying to hold three tiny pieces of metal while stretching an o-ring over them takes some decent dexterity. It also helps keep the pieces together. You can't see it from the picture but without the o-rings you have 12 tiny pieces of metal floating around once you open the package. It would be nice if there was a convenient place on the tool to store them, like in the handle. I suppose if you wanted to leave the collets unassembled you could drop them back into the hammer when not in use, but then you have to sort through all the tiny pieces to find the ones you need and reassemble them every time you want to use it. It may sound like a lot of complaints. They're more minor inconveniences. Those inconveniences aside this tool operates as designed and easily pulls non-factory crimped bullets.

It'll work, but you've gotta smack it VERY hard....
This tool is a must for all reloaders. Especially if you're fixing one or rounds that you have messed up on. This particular model works just okay, I am not impressed with it. You must hit the hammer, VERY HARD on concrete to make the bullet move AT ALL. You must also pause between each hit to tighten the cap holding the bullet in. The first time I used it, I put a .223 round into the the collet and placed it into the hammer, then I would whack it against my work bench, which is made of wood, and nothing would happen. I would pause between every 3 or 4 hammer smacks to measure the bullet with a calipers to see if I had made any progress. I hadn't. I never did get that one out. Another time, I had seated the bullet too deep in a different .223 round. I used the bullet puller to try and get it to come out some. I did get it to work after VERY VERY hard and fast smacking. The "face" of the hammer had deformed some, and I had to use concrete even though the directions tell you not you. I did get the bullet to come out a little bit and ended up being exactly how long my other rounds were, so I left it. I cannot over state how hard you will have to use this thing. It felt like I was going to break it. For more than 2 or 3 bullets that need to be pulled, I would go with a collect clamp bullet remover than screws into the press. I think that'll be my next bullet puller purchase. Bottom line: it does work, but you'll need to wail on it for any results. Good luck.

Good puller and tougher than people think ...
A bit of heresy: This thing works fine for much tougher jobs than you might think. I pull surplus military rifle ammo and reload it for greater accuracy, lately a bunch of Yugoslavian 7.62x39. The bullets are sealed with something like oil-base paint and they're crimped. This puller takes them out without problems. Use a smooth brick on your workbench and cover with a paper towel in order to not chew up the puller. Wear a leather glove, put the round in a shell holder for the caliber, stand well back, swing from the elbow (not the wrist) and smack HARD. Adjust your vigor as required to get most bullets on the first swing. Tapping will work for non-crimped, non-sealed bullets (sport handgun ammo ...) but the bullet must move when you strike or you can do it forever without making progress. I'm sure the puller won't last forever doing this, but I've pulled about 160 rounds so far without any sign of crazing or cracking. I bought a spare and will keep one ahead. I will make a steel washer to go between the shell holder and the body of the puller in order to spread the force there as I can see the holder is indenting the plastic. That will also make the puller work slightly more easily. I used to make my own pullers from half inch PVC pipe; they lasted 200-400 rounds in the summer, often under 100 outdoors in the winter until I started warming them before use. This puller may also do better if at a normal room temperature. I'll report when the first puller fails.

After some research of bullet pullers and realizing I don't use them very often I thought id settle on price instead of quality. I was wrong. This thing is well made and works flawlessly. It has 3 collets to use for different sizes of cases and is constructed of good material. Instructions are vague but you tube has an easy video on it and anybody who has been reloading for a short time or all their life can use this product with ease. Great product!
