This is Bigelow's statement about the process to decaffeinate their Green tea : "For our Green Teas, we use a carbon dioxide process. In the carbon dioxide (CO2) process, moistened tea leaves are first treated with heat and pressure and then treated with carbon dioxide, a natural gas. The carbon dioxide bonds with the caffeine and both are evaporated. "

Q: Does anybody know if this tea is decaffeinated by effervescence? This method preserves almost all of the polyphenols.

There are 2 terms on the box that are very important to understand in relationship to the polyphenols: organic and naturally decaffeinated. Organic means the plants have been grown under strict guidelines to not use chemical fertilizers, and pesticides, which can harm the polyphenols in the plants. The term Naturally decaffeinated can mean one of two things:1) the plant itself is caffeine free, 2) or the process used to decaffeinate is natural, "effervescence."

Sellers on Amazon are not like grocery stores which try to maintain level pricing . . . sometimes a product is sold at the same price by several sellers; other times, there ae price differences. At $16, it still 13 cents per bag, delivered to your house if you're a Prime Customer. No bad, still.
