Highly Recommend This Tool for Gardeners
Amazing tool! Bought it because it was one of the cheapest ones that would arrive in a day versus a week. It's lightweight and your hand does not tire from holding and using it for extended periods of time. I spent about two hours in the yard and it was super easy to use. Cut through just about anything! Grass, clover, weeds, thin dead rose bush branches, etc. It may take a minute or two to get the hang of it, but if you've ever used a sickle or a scythe before you'll have no issues using the tool immediately. For the price and the quality, this took is amazing. The plastic storing case / sheath it comes in is not very durable, so I would recommend trying to find an alternate case or storing this somewhere where someone can't accidentally grab the blade, as it's sharp. Overall 10 out of 10. I would buy another immediately if this one ever broke. I also plan to buy more to gift for anyone in my life that gardens or does yard work. It's a very nifty tool.

Sharp & Useful
This is smaller than I expected but very useful for hand-cutting weeds that have gotten too tall. It's a grab- the-weeds-and-slice kind of a tool that is quite sharp. I like that it is lightweight as I have some arthritis in my hands, so it doesn't make my grip tired as fast as it would if the tool was heavy. It has a pliable plastic cover for the blade that is helpful but not going to be long lasting. The blade would probably break if you exerted pressure on it, like trying to dig up rocks. I am cutting 2ft weeds in large areas the mower or weed whacker can't get to. This tool is fun to use. I'm very happy with my purchase.

A God send for fall perennial garden cleanup
Perfect size and light weight for my small hands. This one has a cover too, which is very important for storage because it is vey sharp! I have close to 100 hosta in my garden. This sharp tool makes cutting off spent leaves in the late fall a breeze! One to two swipes of this blade is all it took for each hosta, versus many multiple cuts if using a typical hand pruner. It is perfect also for cutting many other kinds of perennials, like toad lilies. A god send for garden fall clean up.

Excellent - for specific tasks
This is an ultralight sickle -- thin, sharp, serrated blade -- for light, non-woody bush cutting and clearing. I used it successfully to cut swaths of herbs -- thyme, rosemary, and mint bushes -- that needed severe pruning because they had become overgrown and infested with spider-mites. The blade serration is fine and well engineered, but I wonder whether it is necessary. Would not a smooth, non-serrated blade cut just as effectively and show less tendency to stick and saw on the bush stems? This is why I gave it four stars instead of five for ease of use. Nevertheless, the Hounenkihan delivers on its marketing promise.

Bendy blade broke
So, the first time I used this to weed. You know just stuck it into my garden and pulled, I thought the blade would break, it seemed like it would bend at a right angle and be totally broken. I switched to my hori knife for this particular bed. I'll keep this because it does work for well tilled soil. But if you're trying to start a new bed, or hard core get rid of a pesky plant, like Bishop's weed, you'll have to be mindfully of the flexibility of the blade. I've ordered a kana hoe, which has a fully hardened blade and shank and seems more sturdy. If this blade gives up the ghost, I'll report back! Update : 7/3/2024 tip broke off

What happened with this product??
I bought this tool back in August 2023 specifically to harvest lavender. I'm only cutting through the flower stalks which aren't all that hard to cut through. The product states that it is very sharp and can cut through rope. The tool is sharp. It is easy to handle. It is lightweight. But the second time I used it, I ended up with a piece missing from the blade (see the half moon size chunk in the middle of the blade? It isn't supposed to be there.) I think I would have given it 5 stars except it evidently isn't very sturdy as this piece of the blade broke off with only two uses. It is too bad because I have lots of lavender to harvest...

Lasted mere minutes
Great cutting performance - while the blade lasts. I spent a mere minutes using this product, and was excited about how sharp this was. I was freeing saplings from goldenrod growing around it, and within minutes the blade had pieces breaking off. Cannot recommend this unfortunately!

This is a really good knife. I cut the grass around my flower garden.

As a disabled person who has lost the strength to push a lawn mower, I wish I had purchased this sooner. Being able to sit on a mat, taking things slow and easy, cutting section by section, I am finally able to take care of my own yard again. I am very happy with this purchase.

Just as I expected, another great garden tool made in Japan. Make sure you wear gloves when using. It is quite sharp.

Ordered on prime. Supposed to be completely brand new. It came dirty and obviously used and damaged. So disappointed at the lack of quality control.

Tip broke off upon the very first use. Tried to use it for clearing clover in an area of the garden. It didn't last a month - the cutting edge slowly chipped off with use until there is no edge left.
