This whistle is SO LOUD, that the FIRST TIME you use it, your ears will ring for several minutes! I keep one near the front porch to run off stray dogs. My GF keeps one on her key chain to signal for help in the event of problems or an assault. The other I keep in my car. I recommend the 3 pack from a money saving standpoint. You will use ALL three - trust me. There are NO MOVING parts - it's design gives it an ear piercing high pitched shriek. ATTTENTION GETTING DEVICE FOR SAFETY! As an added input here, yes, I was a basketball ref and this is the best for all sports officials.
