Good replacement
I recently had a new fence installed. The contractor put the typical latch on the gate, but I wanted something different. I bought this gate latch and was pleasantly surprised by how well it works. When opening the gate, the pull cord snaps back into position. Closing the gate takes little pressure for the latch to catch. When closed, the gate has minimal movement. It might cost more than most other latches, but it is worth the extra couple of dollars for what it does and how well it works.

Works well
Pretty well constructed. MUCH better that the old "cord thru the hole in the fence". Easy to install, so far seems durable.

Easy to install, looks nice
Easy to install and works well. One thing I'd change is the knob is plastic and I wish it was metal. It would make it look so much nicer. The wire also frayed where it was cut. I feel like there should be a cap to put on the end so that the frayed wires don't hurt you.

Works very well
Very pleased with this latch pull. Worked very well and I ended up purchasing a second one for another gate.

Things To Know
While the setup for this looks great and definitely far better than another kind I tried where the spring was out on the previous one, it is nice this is something that gets hidden in the post you drill through it keep the spring from getting messed up. However, the pull stop that goes on the end of the cable and the instructions for this are very bad. The stop that you use you have a small piece the cable runs through, which is barely big enough for the cable so if you accidentally scrape the plastic coating on the cable at all, good luck getting it through the hole. Aside from that, once you do get it through and go to screw down the screw to secure the cable to the stop, you can get maybe 1-2 turns on it before it won't go in anymore. This means that you end up with a screw that is hanging more than half way out the end of it, this looks really poor from the outside. Not sure who came up with that design but the screw itself should be about 1/4" shorter at least so that it does not look like the screw is coming out. The actual screw used in this whole kit are REALLY some seriously poor quality materials and you have to be ultra careful to not strip them, or mess up the screw head. It looks like these are made from lightweight aluminum or pot metal and have ZERO durability. Be prepared to have some other screws that will work, because you will likely screw up one of them, especially the one that goes into the stopper piece for the cable. While I would not outright recommend this to anyone, there are very few choices out there and the only redeeming quality this has is that it hides the actual spring mechanism so it does not get damaged like some of the others do.

Doesn't Break and Looks Good
This latch pull solves the broken string problem. I was having to replace the string every few weeks because we began using the gate more often. I tried a chain. It worked better than the string but it would change position where it was attached to the outside of the gate. This made it too short and the gate wouldn't latch. Guests and workmen would leave it unlatched and our dogs kept getting out. This solves the problem stylishly without spending a lot. It was fairly easy to install. My only problems were caused by the old gate, not the latch pull.

Makes the best of an odd lock
There is no elegant way to open gravity latches from the opposite side, but this is probably the best way to do it. There are a lot of parts and a lot of fiddling to get it installed, but once installed it works very well. Unfortunately, the decorative pieces need 1/2" hole to be drilled, meaning you will need a fairly long 1/2" drill bit, though I got it to work with a 3/8" and a little wiggling to make the hole bigger. It is also easy to adjust the "action" to get the closure you are looking for. Once adjusted, it is pretty flawless.

Had to make modifications
Not sure if the description advised that this is for wood fenced gates but when I bought it, I was installing it on a metal gate. The spring installed is set up to work on a wood post. But luckily, a quick trip to the hardware store for a cable crimp, I was able to cut the original crimping, install the spring to the back of my gate and modify it to work on a steel gate latch. Wife loves it because it looks clean and opens the gate without reaching forward. To sum up, if using on a metal gate, you will need to make modifications.

I was having trouble using a regular string to unlatch our gate latch. Anytime I pull on the string, it would snag, causing the gravity latch not to go down, so I have to manually pull it down again just so the latch will lock once I close the gate. I am glad I found this device, which solved my issue. It is very easy to install, though I had to figure out how to orient the part that screws on to the latch correctly. There is a spring that goes inside the hole in the post and that makes the latch to automatically reset once you pull on the nice and elegant looking knob. It looks very durable and I intend to buy one for our other fence gate. Highly recommended!

it's a shame it's not easy to find in UK, delivery was not included in prime and cost almost as much as the latch. Still the latch is top quality. I would recommend to anyone.

Works like a dream x

Install was easy and i love the way it looks. So much better than a standard gate latch. I will say i have had to adjust it each year ever so slightly so that it pulls the lath completely. But love the aesthetics and is working well.

I bought this in Dec 2020. It has been fine until August 2022. I paid £15 for it less than two years ago, now it’s £28!
