Garmin USB Cable

I bought my Garmin NUVI in November 2015. Had no problem doing updates. Recently, I wiped out the programming and reinstalled the software..... just cuz..... Noticed it worked a lot faster when I did that. Well, then a week ago I tried to do an update and COULD NOT! The problem I was having is my computer recognized the Garmin device and would show the drive in Explorer, but the software could not recognize that it was connected. OH DEAR! I googled and discovered it could be that the cable went bad. So I crossed my fingers and ordered this. Plugged it in, fired up the software, and IT WAS RECOGNIZING THE DEVICE RIGHT AWAY! I am updating my maps right now! And it's only going to take 30 minutes, not a freaking 2 hours! Of course, I have Windows 10 now.... I have no idea why they are asking us to rate sheerness and thickness. IT'S A DARN CABLE! I put NO rating on "Sheer" and 1 star to show it was about as thick as you would expect. Actually, I think this is a better cable than what I originally got when I bought the device. It is thicker. But both ends were correct for the connections. I am glad the description said GARMIN CABLE cuz I had ordered another one where it appeared to be right, but I wasn't sure, and when I found this, I cancelled the previous order and got this instead.

I recently bought a Garmin nüvi 205 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator here on Amazon and wanted to register it, so I had to pick up this cable. If you have a Garmin and you don't have this cable, GET IT! This cable will allow you to register your Garmin online, which should be done for warranty purposes anyway, plus you can download other vehicles, voices, and maps, including those of foreign countries. Also, I can charge my Garmin via my laptop instead of in the car all the time. It allows me to run my Garmin on battery power more and plug in another devices, such as my MP3 FM transmitter or power inverter. Then, when I get home or back to the hotel room, I can just plug my Garmin into my computer and let it charge up for the next day. These cables are inexpensive to get (I think I paid less than $7.00 total here on Amazon whereas other stores had them for $20.00-$40.00 or you could only get them in an accessory kit, which I didn't want or need), so if you are getting a Garmin, add this cable on to your order. You will not regret it, especially if you travel a lot.

When every other possible way of updating my Nuvi 200 failed, I did some research and bought this cable. Received it today, 4 days after ordering the cable. I was in no hurry, so I am happy it reached me on a weekend to try it out. Comes in a zip lock bag. The cable is about 3.5 feet long and very sturdy built. I believe it's a good buy for $3.12 with 2 day free shipping. As soon as i received the cable, I connected my Garmin Nuvi 200 to one end of it and my laptop to the other in that order. My computer recognized my Nuvi right away. This is the first time i have ever connected my Nuvi to my computer. I got a small screen at the bottom center of my nuvi showing a graphic picture of my GPS connected to a computer. Felt right when i saw that. Replaced the img file on my Garmin with latest image file. My computer usually takes 1 minute to transfer 700 MB from my computer to any external hard disk and vise versa, this time it took 12 Minutes to transfer about 900 Mb from Garmin to my computer (backed up the original .img file, just in case), and it took close to 51 minutes to transfer the new image file of 1.29 GB from my computer to Garmin. Not what i wanted to see, but this is a one time in a year thing, I don't really care much about it. The cable is very sturdy, so your GPS sits in upright position on the laptop or desk when transfering the files, which i liked very much.

A simple connector that works well. I like that it’s longer than most cords. Has a built in fuse with extra fuses attached. Nice touch. Good price too. Charges my Garmin as advertised.

Tried several Chinese cables which were rated for power and data, but none worked. Cheap is always cheap, but does not always work, After the last two, frustration set in and I found the Garmin cable. Plugged it in with Garmin Express and several year old DriveSmart GPS once again became usable with new software as well as the latest maps. In reality I only lost a few weeks waiting to get a cable that worked, but don't always believe the product information what works with what.

This was advertised as fitting the Zumo 595LM, which is the last model Garmin recognizes on their site. Mine's from 2019. This one DOES NOT fit, the connection is incompatible.

Ich habe ein älteres Garminnavi und beim letzten Umzug ist das Kabel wohl verloren gegangen. Ich wusste schon aus Erfahrung, dass die Updates nur mit dem Orginalkabel funktionieren. ich war überrascht für den günstgen Preis tatsächlich ein Orginalkabel zu bekommen. Das Update war erfolgreich und so kann auch das ältere Navi weiterhin im Einsatz bleiben.

Perso irrimediabilmente il cavo USB originale distribuito con il mio navigatore Nuvi 56 LMT comprato quattro anni fa, ho provato in Garmin Express sotto Windows 7 Pro sull'arco di sei mesi una miriade di sostituti cinesi da poche lire comprati sotto casa con gli stessi attacchi USB tipo A e mini USB dell'originale. Risultato zero carbonella. O il navigatore non veniva riconosciuto, o l'aggiornamento si bloccava dopo due minuti, o mi dava memoria piena. Insomma un disastro. Alla fine,per disperazione, mi sono deciso a spendere quello che andava speso - ah, se avessi avuto questo colpo di genio prima! - e ho preso l'originale, ovvero questo cavo. Un'autentica bomba. E' vero che ho una bella macchina - intendo il PC - ma è altrettanto vero che ho installato il nuovo pacchetto mappe Europa in 8 - diconsi otto - minuti e gli autovelox in 15 secondi. Una pazzia mai vista prima. E' evidente che si tratta di un cavo con tecnologia proprietaria, non replicabile da altri prodotti. Non a caso ha un bel condensatore piazzato a metà. Vale tutti i soldi che costa, e anche di più. Consigliatissimo.
