The Big Alfie Out of Doors Storybook

What a charming book this is. Beautiful illustrations and lovely, charming stories. As I previewed it for my grandson, I felt a calming effect from the stories of a realistic family dealing with normal daily events. A wonderful escape for the adult reading this to a child from a complex world that is becoming more confusing every day.

Slow based British book, a wonderful change from the GO GO GO of so many books. Charming, steady, funny, and caring. Old fashioned in the best way.

I would highly recommend every family with young children to meet Alfie, his family and friends by reading this book. As a Mom I was inspired myself by reading it! Our family read almost all stories about Alfie by borrowing from our local library. Then I decided that I must to have at least on these books in our home library as well. This book has wonderful stories for the six and under child. I have a little boy with a younger sister, so they like to pretend to be Alfie and Annie Rose.

Quality and interesting book on ordinary life adventures

These sweet stories of a boy and his little sister in England are a treat for little ones and their grown ups. I loved books by Shirley Hughes when my children were small, and bought these books for my neighbors when they had children.

I am old but love stories for children. When I discovered the author while reading the Shirley Hughes collection book to a 3 year-old boy I decided that I need to buy these books for myself. Beautiful illustrations and wonderful stories. Thank you Ms Hughes for your great work.

Charming little book.Often times when I read children's books, my mind wanders, whilst I read on auto-pilot - the end effect being not a very engaging experience for child. I seem to be more switched on when reading this, which is good!-A few nice stories with a depth of emotion, my bright 4 y/o girl enjoys, and some poetry in there too.-Nice art work.

Bought when new grandson arrived (guess his name) because I had always loved reading these stories when my kids were little. Beautifully written and illustrated, it has been a joy to revisit the stories, as fresh and delightful as they were all those years ago. Can't wait for my Alfie to be old enough to love them too.

This was bought for my youngest child, I am passing on the joy of Alfie.. everyone should have these books!

Another great compendium of Alfie adventures, mixing poems and stories with beautiful pictures. Good for lots of seasons, we tend to read one poem and story together.
