Not stated in the product description, but these come in an individual polycarbonate cube container. Nice touch by the seller. The cube itself was perfect.

It’s a metal cube, what more is there to say?

Certain materials like gadolinium exhibit the magnetocaloric effect, where the metal warms up in the presence of an intense magnetic field. This cube of gadolinium allows a demonstration of the effect. I covered one side with tape so that a laser thermometer could be used to measure the temperature of the cube without contact. Then with a forceps I placed the cube in contact with a high-field neodymium iron boron magnet and re-measured the temperature. It instantly went up as much as 9 degrees F. When de-coupled from the magnet, the temp went right back down to initial value. So anyway - look up the effect; great stuff for scientists!
