Outstanding sound!
Best of its Class. Outstanding sound! I researched online for an affordable unit to get even more bass to my Zbox SB500 sound bar so i decided to research a subwofer and found the Dayton Audio SUB-800 8-Inch 80 Watt Powered for $99.95 so i added it. Once hooked it to the TV headphone with the wire that came from the soundbar, set Gain and Crossover at 3/4 you won't believe these two units combined how great music or movie listening experience you get, very satisfied and at 3/4 of Sono's price. Pro: sound. Cons: does not come with a Basics 3.5mm to 2-Male RCA Adapter Audio Stereo Cable. No remote control that you can use. As for the Zbox SB500 sound bar I was amazed by the quality of the sound. The price so much affordable than the Sono's option, so i decided to give it a try. Once at home I installed it on top of the TV and the sound is incredible. Volume TV at 8, and Blue Ray or Netflix at 11. The bass is incredible. For best sound quality I set up accuvoice at sd3, output leveling at noOL, bass 3. Treble HI 2, surround to sd 3. Sound is Crystal clear, bass is outstanding, beyond expectations. 3D sound is a plus, can hear sounds with this bar I did not hear with my previous sound system when watching the same movies You wont be dissapointed. You yube videos is like being at the concert. Try these units, and watch movies in Netflix. Sound is Great! Your living Room will never be the same!

Very good 8" for small home Pub System
I have used Dayton speakers before, so I really didn't have any concerns. I knew I would get a good product at a good price point, and it doesn't disappoint. It is an 8 inch powered sub, not a 15". It is probably not for EDM parties cranked. But it is just what I wanted for bass fill in my home Pub, paired with 4 Klipsch R-51M Bookshelf Speakers and Yamaha A-S301 amplifier. Fills the whole basement with great sounding music, and the Sub fills in behind the R-51M's just right. It has a surprising amount of good clear bass. The connections on the back provide for about any option you would need and feeding it with my WiiM Ultra is just enjoyable. Happy with my purchase.

Home office bass
Adds just the right bass to my office system. Paired with aiyma t9 pro amp and some Denon bookshelf speakers. Small room so I didn't need anything bigger. Plenty of low end.

A sub that's good enough that you can't 'hear' it.
Very impressive performance for the price. In my classroom at school I have a pair of Audioengine A5+ speakers with the A8 subwoofer which fill a large room full of students very nicely. For a small (12ft x 12ft) room at home I decided that a pair of the A5+ speakers would do the job on their own. They are good (and go down to around 50 Hz), but I really felt they needed some filling in at the bottom end. I couldn't justify an expensive unit like the A8 for such a small space but I didn't want to ruin good music with something 'cheap' (boomy or mushy). Based on reviews I got the Dayton Sub-800, and I'm glad I did. On the minus side it didn't come with any connecting cables. I have a bag of spare cables left over from other systems but for some users this might be a frustration, which is why I've given it 4 instead of 5 stars. On the plus side: I plugged everything in, set crossover to 80 Hz and gain to halfway, powered up, started a liquid dubstep mix..... Huh? Couldn't hear the sub! Confusion for a second or two until I tried turning the gain up and things got boomy, turned the gain down and the bass disappeared. I hadn't expected this level of quality - when properly set it merges with the regular speakers so nicely you can't hear it as a separate unit but you get a richer sound down to a much lower frequency. Simply outstanding at the price. ps: two things you might want to note: 1) Don't pass judgement until you've played it for a few hours. It seemed to me that like high end systems it took a little while to loosen up. 2) Even though it is very impressive at the price, don't expect it to do everything that high end systems will do. It's only rated down to 40 Hz so you'll miss out a bit on those bone-tingling infra-frequencies.

Lots of value here.
Have been auditioning this subwoofer for a couple of days. It rocks! As always with subwoofers it takes some time to dial it in right. I have speakers that go down to 48hz. Setting the crossover at 60hz it’s about right to blend the deep bass with the speakers. The thing I’m impressed with is the quality of this speaker. Everything works as it should. I’m using high level inputs/outputs from the amp and speakers and running a deep bass YouTube channel to tune it more. Bravo!

Room shaking chest vibrating crystal clear bass
I never understood the people saying this speaker doesn't go deep enough, or can't fill a large room. Those people are spoiled $1000 sub audiophiles. If you are a normal person, who wants deep thundering bass for a cheap price hear me out. The bass THUNDERS. It's SO deep I have to turn the volume down to nearly nothing at night so it doesn't disturb the neighbors. When I turn the gain up more then 3/4ths of the way (on low volume) I feel like my head is gearing to explode. It's so deep it feels like you're at a concert. Audiophiles are too picky man, unless you're trying to fill a massive room, you don't need the 1200. You don't need the 1000. This thing is a monster, it's like a foot tall, and the driver is 8". I came from a 4" sub I didn't know it could GET this massive or deep. Along with being powerful, the sound quality you get for your money is unparalleled. I like to turn my speakers off sometimes and just listen to how detailed and tight the bass is. It's not boomy, there's no rattling noises, it's tight and clear, and adds depth to your music/show/game whatever. I've had subs before that sound boxy, artificial or fake, that is not the case. This thing is the real deal.

Ok for the price
Solid wood like design box. Speaker looks cool. I did a frequency sweep to get it paired well with my little Peachtree Audio M24x Powered Speakers. The auto power option doesn’t seem to work when using a single connection, so I just leave the sub woofer on which is fine.

I just received my Dayton Audio Sub-800 last evening. It was dbbl boxed with thick styrofoam for protection. A nice touch. No nitpicking from me either. The sound is superb after playing it at low volume. It is much smaller than my Polk PSW-10 but blows it away. I am very impressed and happy. I have it mated to Polk S20 bookshelf speakers on standa as my mains in a 2.0 sytem. My amp is a Yamaha A301-S 2-channel integrated with 60x2 watts. my main music source is cd and I havr a Denon DCD 600NE cd player. I love the sound as do my friends. My sub is well broken in & goes even deeper. I plan to buy another one in 2022. Love the look & sound. Best sub out there for the money. Thanks Dayton Audio.

I'm not well equipped to judge the quality of a subwoofer as I don't have anything to directly compare with, but to my ears, the Dayton Audio SUB-800 sounds great, as professional audio reviewers have written numerous times. I'm pairing mine with the pair of Audioengine HD3s I have on my computer desk which are great speakers but light on the low frequencies. Adding the SUB-800 fills out the sound very nicely and adds punch to electronic music, making basslines sound much more engaging and immersive without being overly thumpy or rumbly (if properly adjusted). I think the unit looks attractive and understated with a flat top and only a small logo on the front (not really removable as it's held in with pins in two holes) and a removable cover that velcros on. There is sufficient audio adjustment with a 40-140Hz crossover dial, a volume knob, and a phase toggle switch. High level input and output are available, as well as stereo or mono RCA inputs. Using the RCA passthrough outputs on the Audioengine HD3 works fine with the SUB-800, but there is a minor issue - the auto-on feature of the SUB-800 is *not even close* to being sensitive enough, and with my HD3s you have to play music quite loud before it detects a signal. In my case, it's well above my typical listening level - especially since I'm in a condo building and would rather not have my neighbours knocking on the door. I understand that Dayton Audio was probably trying to avoid the speaker mistakenly activating on any transient noises or hum that might be going through the speaker, but the auto-on feature needs to be far more sensitive than it is to be useful. It might be nice if it were adjustable so you could set it to turn on at very low volumes. Fortunately, as long as you're not too worried about the power this will use, you can just leave the power switch on at all times and it works fine, but this issue is the primary reason this speaker isn't getting five stars from me. For the price, I think the Dayton Audio SUB-800 is a wonderful complement to a nice set of stereo speakers. It may be a bit overkill for the typical computer desktop, but I'm glad I got this as it makes my Audioengine HD3s sound a lot better for the types of music I listen to.
