Sony RDPM7IPN Lightning iPhone/iPod Portable Speaker Dock (Black)

Ok...I seriously love this thing. First of all, when you pop your phone on it for the first time it will direct you to download a free app. Do it. It turns this speaker dock and your phone into a really cool clock radio. You can dim the brightness of the app (independent from the rest of your apps), set alarms and use sleep timers for music or sleep apps while you drift off. The app displays the time all night on a very sleek and uncluttered screen (again, you can make it as bright or as dim as you'd like) and the sleep timers and alarms work flawlessly as long as you keep the app engaged over night. I have two cases for my phone. One is a hard plastic that snaps on and doesn't have a lot of stuff on the bottom of the phone that would hinder the ability to dock. My other one is a more "jelly" case and it had more structure on the bottom and I couldn't dock with it on. A quick snip on the bottom of the phone with some scissors (you can't even tell) and it docks perfectly. Just keep in mind that you'll want either a flexible or uncluttered cover for your phone if you want to keep the cover on. More protective covers may not work. I highly recommend this if you have the iPhone 5. The sound is great, the footprint uses more vertical than horizontal space and it takes batteries so you can move it around if you want to.

I've been looking for a bedside phone charger and speaker system for years. I found exactly what I wanted with this unit. A little pricier that I wanted to spends but worth every dime. Great sound, easy to use. Works great with my iPhone5. I charge my phone on it every night and listen to recorded meditations or music as I fall asleep. Wake up to fully charged phone. Bluetooth option also works great with my iPhone or iPad. The iPad doesn't fit on the docking station but iPhone5 does even with a (slim) hard plastic case on the phone which is great because taking the case off every time I want to dock or charge is a hassle. Really like the remote control too. Highly recommend.

Decent looking speaker dock. I just recently got this for my wife. It charges fine with pop-up errors, running a jailbroken iOS 6 currently. She uses this to charge her phone nightly and does the job. This also doesn't interfere with the case. The sound is clear and there is no distortion even turned all the way up. Complaints: - Doesn't get as loud as expected for a device of this size. The little cube speaker dock she has for her old 3GS is as loud/louder yet much smaller (and was far less expensive). I would have reused or purchased a second one but the design would have put a lot of stress on the connector with a 30-8 pin adapter, so I decided that would be a bad move. - The unit is a lot thicker than pictures indicate. Yet it still has that small speaker sound; I expected a bit more from that size of enclosure. Overall it's still a good purchase but not worthy of 5-stars. To be a 5-star product it would need to do one of the following three things: - Reduce the price to $50 or less - Keep the same sound output/quality, but make the unit much thinner - Same unit size, but with more audio output and a larger range of sound. Until one of those three above are met this product isn't worthy of another star.

I bought this to go in my garage/workshop. My basic use is to plug my phone into the dock, turn Pandora on shuffle, and let it play for hours using my house Wifi connection. So I was looking for 1) Charging Dock with AC Power, 2) Lightning connector for my iPhone 5s, 3) Connector that would work with my Apple iPhone case. This device works on all counts and i am very happy with it. Remote control works out of the box: power on, power off, play, and pause music. The sound is good. The downloadable app works, but i am not really interested in its features. I also cant comment on battery life, as I didn't ever put in batteries. I did a lot of searching and this was the only speaker dock that had everything i wanted. Most other units reviewed seemed to have problems with docking with the case on. I highly recommend

The sound is not what I expected from a Sony model. I had an older one for my previous 30-pin iPhone which was amazing. The bass was clear and powerful, and the volume was very loud. This one doesn't have any of the same qualities unfortunately. I will be searching for another model to work with my iPhone. Also, the remote didn't work.

really love these..bought three of them. the last two i bought, though, didn't last a year before they quit charging. disappointing

Okay, I know that almost all of the Lightning docks have the flexible connector that swivels, but I still like it. This sounds good, with adequate volume for a dorm room. If you want to impress the neighbors, buy something else. If you want something that looks sharp and plays your music well, buy this. Easy to carry around, comes with power cord, and also runs on batteries (AAAx4). My daughter had the original with the 30 pin connector, and liked it well enough to want the same thing again for her iphone with lightning connector. The remote control is a bonus!

These things used to cost $30 with the 30-pin devices. Somehow they went up to $70 for the new iPhone 5 lightning connector. And they're not meaningfully better than the only 30-pin ones. We bought this Sony one for my son's iPod touch and it's fine, but I have a hard to justifying to myself why it costs more than twice as much as the 30-pin model sitting right next to it for my elder son's older iPod touch model.

Does exactly what I wanted, provides a charging station as well as a better sound than the iPhone speakers. works with batteries as well if ever I wanted to use it at the park or something. The size of it is perfect as well. Love it. Delivery was super quick and am very pleased with my purchase.

We just rec'd ours today... 8pin was very hard to find anywhere. Love the Sound and quality it provides...so glad I found something in a name we can trust.....thumbs up Sony!
