Update: 2024 I’ve had this pen for 8 years now and regularly return to it. I’ve used the Jetstream, Power Tank, Jotter, Acroball, Rotring, and Bic Cristal, among others, and while each has advantages, I often consciously return to my reliable Cross Classic Century in black and gold. Why? The slim profile fits my hand; it doesn’t rattle or make any noise at all (unlike many click pens); it looks professional yet with an understated not ostentatious style; and the refill is reliable. As to the refill, I’ve noticed an improvement over the last year. The newest Cross medium refills are slightly smaller at the plastic top section that screws into the pen, but still fit securely. The ink seems to have been improved. It isn’t Jetstream or Acroball level low-viscosity, but it is, IMHO, on par with the Parker Quinkflow. Overall a great improvement over past Cross refills. If you can swing the price (which remains admittedly annoyingly high), this pen and refill is a winner. Also, some reviews criticize the smooth section on the top part of the PVD models. That’s not a flaw, it’s designed that way to allow engraving, which otherwise couldn’t happen due to the texture on the rest of those models. _____________ I’ve had this pen for going on 5 years now and although I’ve not used it exclusively during that time, I have used it a fair amount and it’s held up well. The classic black is much easier to grip and write with than the chrome or gold models (more slippery polished surfaces). I’ve come to appreciate the screw in style refill and the pen writes well for long periods of time without straining my hand. I highly recommend!

I live in Vietnam and the quality of ballpoint pens out there is abysmal. I donate BIC Stic and BIC Clic Stic pens to my local elementary school and all the kids love them. But for folks who live with a pen in their hand something nicer is appreciated. I fell in love with the Cross Classic Century when I first encountered it a couple or three decades ago and have gifted a couple dozen of them over the years. Good quality pens that resist breaking and malfunctioning. Cross refills are more expensive than the Chinese "equivalents" but lack equivalent quality.

Can't go wrong with a Cross Pen. They write well and great value for the price. I've had Cross pens for 50 years and they always last (The last one I had for 15 years before losing it). Nice weight and size.

I've always loved the quality and elegance in Cross pens. I had my last one stolen from me because it was so well liked and admired by a friend (not a friend any more). I ordered two of the black and gold ones with the 23 karat gold plating accents. I noticed right off that they did not look like the one in the ad. There is no gold accented ring around the middle of the pen below the clip. Both pens I purchased didn't have that ring which leads me to believe it was not by mistake. I don't know why that is but that's the reason I only gave it four stars instead of five. They should put a more accurate picture of the pen in the ad so people can see there is no gold accented ring in the middle.

Cross is a reliable high quality product. Attractive and writes well with Cross refills. I have several styles all of which I love. Highly recommend.

I purchased this pen as a gift for a member of our recent wedding. I went to great lengths to find the perfect pen and a decent price. We ended up using the pen to sign our wedding papers and I cannot say enough about the perfect glide when writing. The pen is a slim line feel and has exquisite quality and craftmanship. I highly recommend this if your looking for excellent quality visual appeal and comfortable feel.
