I bought these pieces of wood after I tried shaving down a tree in my forest to match failed. (Not really, no)I like these pieces of wood because they fit into my saxophone no problem. The piece of wood had accurate absorption quality’s. I tested the wood pieces under water temporarily and also soaked the wood as well. To my surprise the wood held strong. This wood works great when stored at room temperature.This wood also fits my alto saxophone and leaves no sappy residue. The sound quality the wood produces is beautiful as well.Final Thought: Great Wood for New Players with a Great Price

I'm primarily a tenor and bari player, but had an alto gig come up and I was out of reeds. I didn't want to spend too much for a one-off so I decided to try something cheap just for kicks. I was pleasantly surprised with these! I used a reed knife to flatten the back as I do with all reeds, but that's normal practice. I highly recommend these for the occasional alto player.

They taste better than most envelopes and stamps, but am having less call to lick those these days as most are self adhesive. However for sax reeds, they are not self adhesive and you will need a ligature, or rubber bands or a hose clamp in a pinch. I've never been that fussy about reeds. You can spend a good deal more on the named brands if you desire, but these are fine for my purposes. I switched out a VD reed for one of these, couldn't tell the difference apart from the new reed taste. Your mileage may vary, but mine didn't.

I think my saxophone is just out of tune because it sounds weird. My C doesn't sound like a normal C. But all the other notes sound good. I really enjoyed jumping back into the alto sax. It was cool.
