Blythewood Bee Company Ceracell 10 Frame Top Feeder

**Update - upgraded rating. Even though the unassembled nature of the feeder is not advertised, the quality of the wood is superb. Ceracell feeders I ordered in the past were of commercial grade wood and out of square. I’ll enjoy putting these together!I have ordered 8 or more of these in the past and each one came assembled. The two I ordered came unassembled. The fact that assembly is required must be made known to customers as some may not have the tools and means to assemble and paint them. Ceracell makes an excellent product, but Blythewood should step up and be honest and transparent with their customers. I now have to add exrra time into my already busy beekeeping schedule to put these together....

After trying a number of different feeder solutions (in-hive frame feeder / inverted jar with perforated lid) we gave this top feeder a try. It has been awesome! No robbers and with plenty of capacity cant keep the hive well fed for sustained periods of time.The only downside is the price. The manufacturer will not ship to the States form Canada so only option is paying a price premium here.

Had some issues with the ladder area being a tad slick. Used an engraver to roughen it up some more and wallah. Only other change I made was I screened the top. No drownings while pulling lid to fill.

I use this on two hives and one is pretty hot, Hot enough it's hard to even refill mason jar type feeders that sit by the entrance without needing a suit. With this you can approach from the rear and remove the lid to refill without exposure to bees that are feeding. I have found zero dead bees in it as well. Really works well, much better than the mason jar ones and so much easier that the internal frame type feeders.

I was excited to get these and the design idea is good. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, you have to sand the areas where the bees will be so they have some grip and do not drown. Also, this product is shown as assembled… but the frames are not. It should be advertised as un-assembled so customers are aware. I ordered 3 of them and 2 of the 3 box frames were not cut to be completely square. So they do not sit on the hives flush. Will probably use my shallow super boxes instead and set the plastic trays in those…. Disappointed. Maybe they should have an option to just sell the plastic trays.

My bees love this feeder. Super easy to load up and clean afterwards.

First time I used it I had some dead bees in the corner. Since then not only have I had no dead bees but I have bought one for each of my 5 hives. I only wish they made on that worked on my Long Langstroth hive, like the rapid round does.

This top feeder has made it so easy to feed the bees. Just simply lift the top of your hive and pour your syrup in.
