Loved it!
Such a cool concept and character. This Batgirl might be my favorite. She is the ultimate fighter, able to take on anyone, and yet she won't kill. She has something to prove. Awesome story.

Amazing. Simply stunning
Amazing. Simply stunning.Having recently been enthralled by the current run of "Detective Comics" I decided that it was time to read more about Cassandra Cain. I knew of her origin, but not her journey. The second issue in this collection was heart-breakingly beautiful. Spellcheck tells me that's not a word, but I'm going with it. Seriously, I read it three times before moving along to the third issue. The art was a style that I miss. Kind of cartoon-like but with a consistent flare that I can appreciate. For whatever reason, I found the art style, mostly, one that reminded me of my "golden age" of art appreciation. Much like I see World of Warcraft graphics as my gold standard for fun video games. Grown up animation or cartoons just feel right for me. And late 90s and early 2000s fit that to a tee. But, it's the character that makes this book pop. Whether she's communicating through motion, thought bubble, or short phrases I find her to be quite endearing.Over the past year I've been expanding my comic book reading experience into the extensive "bat-family" bit by bit. In most cases, I've been pleasantly surprised. I went into this with semi-high hopes and those were met, exceeded, and then mocked for being so low by the end of it. Eye-rolls weren't an uncommon way for me to instinctively respond whenever someone mentioned "Batgirl" in the past. If only I could go back and tease younger me a lesson on being open to ideas outside my own expectations. If you've been reading "Detective Comics" and wondered what the story was with Cassandra Cain, I can't recommend this book enough to you. I really can't.

Great, but with some flaws
I want to start the review by saying that I gave this 5 stars just because I've read the whole series before so I know where its going and I dont want people to see the rating and decide not to give it a shotCassandra is my favorite Batgirl and this is my favorite Batgirl series ever (although I did like Gail Simone's new 52 Batgirl a lot too).Shes one of the most interesting DC characters and definitely the most interesting Batfam member to me.I do agree with some other peoples complaints that some things in the book felt rushed and came out of nowhere (the metahuman taking away her ability to read body language ) but that made her vulnerable and allowed us to see a different side of her.She doesnt speak a lot as she cant so this is a mostly action-centric and serious. The character keeping it from being too grim is Barbara Gordon, the original Batgirl who becomes Cassandras mentorIn conclusion the story is great ( after this continues to get even better) although it has some flaws and the art fits the tone of the book and the character

Great artwork, great story but doesn't use the material to it's fullest
Fantastic artwork and that's why I bought this graphic novel. We follow the story of Cassandra Cain and how she tries to be the new Batgirl. I found the story to be too streamlined, focusing only on her desire to be Batgirl. Without giving away anything, I thought she would have tried to interact with the world around her, seeing society in a way that she had never seen before. The writers could have done a LOT with giving us that viewpoint. Instead we have a vigilante doing everything to be Batman, the story is a pop hit, but could have been a symphony.

BRING HER BACK!!!
Awesome character and story. This Batgirl makes the old and the NEW 52 Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) look like a JOKE.This character is so rich. She is BY FAR SHE IS MORE POWERFUL than Batman...maybe that's why DC/WB decided to get rid of her.I wish DC/WB wasn't so Sexist/Racist by making her obsolete now.

Unfulfilled Potential
This series started off so full of promise. The inner turmoil of a young girl raised as an assassin. Her troubled relationship with her mentor. And then, it seems like it became the victim of creative disagreements. Batgirl's struggle to communicate is miraculously solved by a stranger with unexplained psychic powers. Her conflict with her mentor just disappears altogether. A major crime affecting one of Batman's closest friends outright disappears from the pages of the comic with no explanation at all. It just gets progressively worse until it ends with a bizarre social commentary that has no relationship to the main characters at all. A major disappointment, all the more so for what it initially showed signs of becoming.

'My' Batgirl is Back...
After all these years and a few tattered comics, its good to have a pristine collection of one of my favorite series and characters. Its been a while since Cassandra Cain's Batgirl has seen the light of day, what with DC refusing to acknowledge her existence for a time. So its a relief to see that the company hasn't forgotten her.As the Batgirl I grew up with, I suppose I hold some bias toward the others as a result, but I find this one to be the most interesting.Raised by a master assassin who once worked with Batman and denied any language or writing skills, Cassandra speaks through movement and actions rather that conventional speech. Rescued and brought into the Bat-family during No Man's Land, she is trained by the previous Batgirl as her successor. (As it should be, they don't change the original title characters age and/or ethnicity, instead we're given a new character and shown why they are worthy, with the originals approval.) And even then its approval that the character needs to be earned through out the story. The book itself is meatier than Amazon first described. It actually covers issues #1-12 which was a pleasant surprise. As it covers the first two volumes of the original trades.DC has really been on a role lately with these releases, what with this and the Secret Six books getting a thicker re-release, its great to see so many of my favorite out-of-print titles getting a fresh start for new readers to enjoy.

Very Underrated character. Love me some Cassandra Cain, any fan of the Bat should get this
Almost lost in the shadow of Barbra Gordon's Batgirl alongside Stephanie Brown but she brings a fresh take to the character.A Silent Assassin almost a female Damien Wayne, shes quiet and almost Stoic but an amazing character who shows genuine emotion even though her Costume is almost like something a Ninja would wear.Any fan of the Bat Family should check out her story and what happened before New 52 and DC Rebirth

Cassandra Cain's Batgirl is something of a fan favourite, and while the series didn't resonate with me ...
Cassandra Cain's Batgirl is something of a fan favourite, and while the series didn't resonate with me as strongly as others, I do understand why: Cassandra displays an innate empathy that is accentuated by her naive wonder towards her everyday surroundings.Unfortunately, it's that naivety that turned me off: my idea of Batgirl was never a trainee, but an independent figure unafraid to act outside of Batman's shadow--Cassandra does display this mind, but it feels overshadowed in how 'babied' she seems around Barbara. It's not for me, but it's by no means makes this series awful or unreadable; a definite recommendation for anyone who gravitates toward that sort of approach.

A melhor Batgirl!
