A lot more economical than a security system
Wireless smoke and CO2 a lot more economical than hiring a company. Make sure you purchase the batteries they last about five years.

Compatible with all systems that support 5800 series devices
I have a Honeywell Lyric alarm system in my house. I got this detector to add to my system. We decided to add a smoke detector in the garage because we charge an electric scooter out there and you just never know. It wasn’t code back in 1995 to put a smoke detector in the garage but the more we thought about it we decided it was important to add one there and hence this purchase. It was shipped in one day and I had it programmed and installed in 10 minutes. It came with a CR 123 battery and well written instructions for Installation, programming, set up and maintenance. This is a high quality heat and smoke detector that is NFPA approved and UL listed.

Great Smoke and temperature detector
This is an expensive smoke detector. But, it is worth the money because it ties into my alarm system. Besides smoke it is also a temperature detector. It will let my alarm company know if it gets below freezing or if it gets too hot. I had a regular smoke detector, but it is in my little place in the country, so if it went off when I was not there no one would know. Now, with it hooked in to my alarm system I will be notified if it ever goes off where ever I am. Piece of mind and safety too.

How to Determine Expiry Date - This was New Stock!!!
To help resolve the 5808w3 date - If the "For Repair, Return To: says "Resideo", then the detector was manufactured 2018 or later. Honeywell spun-off its home detectors business as Resideo in 2018. I had a very old detector with a date code1042 and repair name "Honeywell". These detectors first went on market in 2007 and that the old unit was manufactured prior to 2018 by the Resideo name. So the year code of "1" is for 2011; not 2001 or 2021. It is more than 10years old and should be replaced. I bought a "New" unit with a similar date code of 1114, only after close investigation did I notice the "Resideo" name and discover the 2018 spin-off, telling me that this is 2021 stock good thru 2031 :-)

Replaced older model from 2009. Backplate is like 10 mm smaller so theres some wall edging that is a little rough. I will need to touch up around the device, however NO PAINT on device!! That is what ruined my other one. The painters were told not to pain it, therefore they removed the outer shell and painted over the back plate completely! Needless to say the adrenaline rose quickly upon the tampered failed unit I just had newly installed 2 days before painting. After trying to correct the tampered device, I was forced to purchase a new one based on Xfiniti's professional recommendation. They finally returned yesterday to replace it and reconfigure my system with the new smoke detector. It works great and now feel updated and safe with my entire house wired. Today I install the Ring. Will write a review after a couple of weeks, but expect to hear good things on this device. Great replacement and Happy with the honeywell wireless smoke detector. Is a good value.!

Honeywell 5808W3 Wireless Photoelectric Smoke/Heat Detector
Second one I have purchased in the past 3 years. For the cost of $50+ would expect the unit to last longer than 3 years. Recently purchased a CO2 detector from Kiddie for $30 with a EOL of 10 years. Why can't Honeywell provide a similar EOL with this unit? Battery is not the issue the unit just failed.

Works well with a few tips to program
Already had these in my house and they work great but wanted to add more. For the most part easy to install but here are a few tips that helped me:-If your alarm is monitored, be sure to call and have it put on "test".-Some videos say to put your panel in programming mode and then open the cover on the smoke alarm which sends a signal and programs it. In my case it programmed the tamper alarm (opening the cover) as if that were the smoke alarm. It's better to program it manually with the code on the unit.-Keypad programming is not fun on many systems including mine. If you have phone app or computer access to your system, try one of those. It's much easier!
