Cheaper than go pro, great camera for the price
Great little camera. It mounts well and is simple to use. No complaints. Is it as fancy as a go pro? No, but its a lot cheaper.

Bad battery, mediocre recordings, bad pictures...you get what you pay for
Pros: -small -Decent recordings -Cheap -Decent accessories for the price. -Decent case Cons: -Horrible pictures -Horrible battery. This think couldn't record more than 32mins at 1080p and got hot as ever. -Gets very hot recording. -Battery life indicator worthless...the bar is High, medium or Dead....no percentage or time left...sucks. -Can't record more than 32mins...battery dies every time. -You can't plugin and record so that sucks. Keep in mind Vivitar used to be a top lens manufacturer and eventually went bankrupt and assets/trademark purchased to rebrand with action cameras and similar gear. This thing isn't the worst but feels like an early prototype that needs improvement specifically around the battery, optics and just more extensive testing that wouldn't drive the price up much. You get what you pay for so if you just need a disposable camera then this might fit the bill. I think an old phone in a waterproof case would do better so not sure why in this form factor they can't encompass what a 5 year old cell phone can do.

Fun action camera. Not high dollar, and it shows.
Takes ok pictures and video for the price. Scroll buttons broke before even left for trip. Wasn't enough time to return before trip so opened it up and fixed it enough to scroll one direction, which worked enough. Case remained waterproof while snorkeling, so that was a big plus.

Pretty good footage for the price, but the battery doesn't last as long as I hoped. I now to bring a portable charger or two along.

Excellent little camera…… I personally think it’s as good or better than a go pro

Surprisingly good camera
Imagine my surprise that a <$80 "underwater" camera works as billed and takes relatively high-quality video under water. One minor design flaw: if you've set the camera on video, you're stuck with that setting until you're comfortable enough to open the case to change it to still photos. That could be a big deal for some. You're either on video or on still, and can't switch between the two under water. Also audio is very muffled as a result of the lexan (or whatever it is) case. But you'd sort of expect that. Video quality is outstanding given the price. The camera, thanks to the hardy case, can take a licking. I dove off a sailboat with the camera attached to my head (with the EEEKit head band) and it filmed it well. Another drawback is absolutely horrid instructions. But it's pretty easy to figure out where on/off is and what the other button does (start/stop film.) I've only had this camera for a few weeks and have shot plenty of footage in the surf in the Bahamas. If it doesn't last any longer, it still would have been worth it (a still camera with underwater case that you have to develop film for is typically $21. This is 4x that, but has greater capacity on one micro sd card.) Oh, the camera does not include a micro SD card.

Also stopped working for me :(
I bought this unit for my son, but the waterproof case broke first, then the camera stopped working. Its too late for a refund, however, and manufacturers warranty is very slow in getting it resolved.

Camera & Case work well
We had this camera completely under water filming and taking pictures. It functions as describes. The only issue we had was the lens fogging up with the difference in temperature from inside to outside, or outside to underwater. But that's not the camera's fault. Good little camera for the money.

This is a really good little HD video camera! I wanted a waterproof HD video camera for a family holiday which I knew would involve taking my 2 year old swimming. I wanted to be able to record videos of her in the pool, but for the videos to be good quality and not pixelated or jumpy. Honestly, if I had the money I would have bought a GoPro Hero - but I didn't have that kind of money so was looking for something in my price range. Considering that this camera usually retails for £150, to get it for around £50 was a total bargain! The camera is incredibly light and easy to use. I have only used it a handful of times but for recording in a swimming pool it was as easy as pressing two buttons; one to turn it on and one to record. I connected it to a TV via the HDMI port and watched the recordings back. The quality was really good. You have to bear in mind that, if the camera is in the waterproof housing, you don't get much audio. I don't mind this as you should expect it. If the camera is in a watertight housing, the audio is going to be limited. The main thing you need to know - and something that every website is wrong about - is that this camera will take a MicroSD card up to 32Gb. Every website I looked at for this camera, including the main Vivitar website, states that the camera will take a 4Gb MicroSD card. Everything in me was saying 'there's no way a HD camera will be limited to a 4Gb card' but every website stated this. It turns out that it takes up to 32Gb card as long as it's Class 4 or higher. Great camera and I look forward to using it in more ways, such as on my bike and car.
