The lamp has three very nice features.1) It is very bright, 2) both magnifiers fit my application (mainly circuit board work) and 3) compactness.I use one at work and at home, both for printed circuit board work. For surface mount, the inset magnifier is powerful enough to easily see 0805, SSOP and SOT23 packages. Since I hand solder, this is extremely useful.The circular light illuminates from all angles, thus making it easier to work.Finally, it fits nicely on a bench or desk top without taking up too much space.It has one small problem. Pulling the magnifier down too far may cause the unit to tip. I secured a weight at the back as a counter balance; which works very well.

Had to return it. The screw that holds it to the base cannot be tightened enough to stop it from sagging. IT won’t stand upright and it wobbles between positions the ball joint on the head is great but the design of the base is faulty.

I bought this to replace a fairly similar budget product (with lesser optic quality) that had a circular compact fluorescent light bulb for the illumination. That unit lasted about 10 years with very light use. Although considerably more expensive than the CFL version of similar design, this unit has a better leveraged arm upon which the annular optic ring rests. The base is heavy, which means it is very stable, particularly useful if you are looking at 'big' objects where you must move the arm to long reach angles to get to your target magnification area (like big rocks, as an example). The illumination is quite bright, in no way is it less when compared to 'old school' CFL bench top magnifiers. The key to the quality rating will be how long each individual LED will remain illuminated for X amount of years, and if individual LED's fail in the light ring, how many would fail over how many years until the illumination level is not useable? Alas, only time will tell (hopefully decades), but for now, this is measurably an upgrade to the older illuminated bench top magnifying diopter I had previously. Looking forward to many years of use of this product, I hope.

This lamp is great and the lens is very handy. It would be perfect if it had a dimmer.

This is an excellent desk lamp. I had a cheep one prior to this so I can really see the difference. The glass is great quality, the optics are clear and sharp. The cover is a great bonus to keep out the room dust. The build quality is quite nice and the movement stays where I place it unlike my last unit. The led lighting is bright and clear. I would buy this again and I highly recommend this lamp 10++ IMHO

Clear optics and sufficient light for my intended use as a task lamp and magnifier for soldering. Although not cheap, it seems fairly priced relative to other high-quality units.Time will tell on how well the build quality holds up. It seems sturdy enough. Most importantly, the optics don’t severely hamper my depth perception and the focal length is usable for my soldering needs. Overall I’m very satisfied.

I needed something to help me with close examination of electronic circuits and other tiny components. My close vision has deteriorated out to 18" which is too far to see tiny detail. This magnifying lamp is perfect for fixing that and now I can easily spot check solder welds, fine laser print on components, contamination on tiny electrical connectors, whatever. The lamp is bright and LEDs are durable. The hinges are stiff enough to hold any position I require. And the style fits great with my space.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but when it arrived I sat it up at the table and was able to see how great it will be for my hand embroidery. Will be using it later this week.
