Excellent for Learning AND Reference
As a former C-programmer (years ago) who is very rusty in general and new to HTML, I found this to be extremely useful, thorough, and clear. It was helpful to see how JavaScript, CSS, and HTML are used together to create today's web experience. The discussion and examples relating to mobile-friendly apps solved many of my problems. Whenever I ran into difficulty on my current project, I was invariably able to find the answer when I used this book as a reference. And, it was such an accessible and effective learning tool I took it to bed with me each night. It takes more than the "24 hours" cited by many of the Sams books, but every hour is worth it. Highly recommended!

Excellent guide for HTML CSS and JS
As someone with no prior experience whatsoever into website work this book has been invaluable. Well written, I feel way more ready to approach website development . When retyping the passages of code it may not work exactly and require some tweaks (specifically the later passages of javascript) , but that is probably more due to the ever changing nature of the standards of the languages.

This book teaches the way I learn. It starts ...
This book teaches the way I learn. It starts with an overview of the entire subject and then goes into each part in depth. The overview gives me a structure to hang the in depth knowledge on. When an author goes into depth without giving an overarching understanding it's hard to see how the in depth information relates to the whole picture.

Great book for beginners
This book is a great book for beginners. I highly recommended becuase the author Julie Meloni introduces you HTML basics, CSS and javascript. Meloni also teaches you the basics how to deploy a website through the FTP. The only problem that I had it was with the IDE I was not able to download

Easy read easy to learn
Perfect package of all three Javascript, CCS and HTML5 and easy to read. You'd need a more comprehensive HTML5 book for sure though

Worthy effort, but not the best book for me
Worthy effort, but not the best book for me. I have extensive programming experience, and some very dated (HTML 3) web experience. This is a beginner book and is way too verbose for me. Too many words used to describe too little concepts. This book is also not much good as a reference. I can't see myself ever referring to this book for some quick reminders.
