NU-SET Water Faucet Lock - Key Lock, Chrome, Rubber Material, Fits 3/4-Inch Garden Hose Bib

One of our family members has a serious water thief problem -- her neighbor stole over $800 worth of water a few months ago while she was out of town, although it was impossible to prove to try to prosecute the lowlife. I ordered these to put on her outside faucets, plus a couple for my own home. This device is both simple and effective -- it comes with a screw-on plastic cap, which does have a washer in it to prevent leaks if the water is turned on with the lock installed. I tested the effectiveness of the cap and with the water turned on full force not a drip came out. The second component of this gizmo is a metal security mechanism that opens up and closed across the threads of the hose bib (after you install the screw-on cap). It does NOT come with a lock -- you'll need to make a run to the store for that (or purchase one here on Amazon separately). This device is a good deterrent, but like all of these things not a total prevention device. If someone is really intent on stealing your water they're probably going to break the lock you put on it, or possibly use a power tool to try to saw off the locking mechanism. The best way to prevent water theft is to turn off the valve servicing the outside hose bib -- although many newer homes don't have these secondary valves anymore, which means you'd have to turn off ALL the water going to your house to stop the theft.

This item fit my remote spigot perfectly. I have a water line run to a remote location. I have a neighbor who doesn't have any utilities, electric or water. He has been caught stealing fuel from another neighbor, as well as water. I needed this to prevent the possibility of him stealing water from my system. This fixed the issue with the addition of a cut resistant lock. I found it easy to install and it is rust resistant because it is made of aluminum. The build quality is comparable to other products. I was really impressed by the price.

Decent product. Concerning colder climates that it requires a cap

I really like how this faucet lock is designed. It actually stays put, unlike the other kind I tried that didn’t fit as well around the spout. That one had a lock at the bottom and could be yanked off if someone really tried. This one wraps right around the spout opening and feels a lot more solid. On my outdoor faucet, which has a ridge near the threads, it locks onto that and can’t be pulled off without tearing something up. At that point, it’d probably be easier just to cut the lock. It does depend on the spout having that ridge, though. The opening on the faucet lock has to be smaller than the faucet opening, or it won’t catch. I did consider the bulkier version that locks over the whole faucet, but that felt like overkill for what I needed and costs a lot more. This one’s a nice balance between secure and simple.

I bought this lock for one of our outdoor faucets since the contractors working at the vacant house next door to us kept using our water. I bought an inexpensive Brinks combination lock to use with it & it stopped the “water thieves” in their tracks - lol.

Great for unwanted persons using the water

I bought and returned two of these because they would not close if you used the black cap/stopper on my outdoor faucet. Without the black cap, water would still spill around it.

This is brilliant! I have a garden faucet at the front of my house and recently have had issues with "unwelcome visitors" using it to fill buckets and water bottles. And leaving it dripping, which is kind of inconsiderate. This faucet lock has two parts - the first is like the cap to a soda bottle and the second is a hinged lockable metal cover. Just screw the cap on the hose bibb and then close the metal cover over it. Add a small padlock of your choice and voila! I purchased "Master Lock 105D Wide Warded Padlock, 1-1/8-Inch, Steel" here on Amazon and it works perfectly although a luggage lock would work fine as well.

En mi ausencia me robaron el agua y mi recibo llego de mas del triple cuando en realidad ni estuve prácticamente todo el mes. Fue durante un fin de semana. Ahora instale este candado y funciona de maravilla. Si bien, no es algo que los vaya a detener, si por los menos les cuesta trabajo y lo piensan 2 veces. Es fácil de instalar y bastante seguro. No tienes que cambiar toda la llave.

Llevo ya bastantes años desde que compré este producto y es una maravilla. Funciona justo como debe hacerlo y evita que los vecinos y los lava coches tome agua de mi toma. Hace poco empezó a oxidarse pero considerando en el tiempo que llevo con el, sigue funcionando perfecto.

Replaced some old locks that didn’t last a year. These should last forever as they are not the locking mechanism. You have to use a separate lock that can be replaced for cheap.
