Full Size Performance, Very Small Footprint & Price
I bought this very small DVD player for a relatively cramped viewing/playback area in my RV. Given its low cost and very small size, I did not expect it to perform as well as my larger, full-feature Sony DVD player in my home theater. However, I compared them by playing the same home-made (self-recorded family archive) DVD and a commercial DVD (specifically a Charlies Angels action movie). I fed them each to my Sony Bravia 55" screen via the same HDMI input. The picture and sound quality were identical! The user controls/menus, however, were very different. The Craig menus/controls are much clunkier (i.e., not polished/pretty) but they still do everything I want to do.The bottom line: This is a very good deal and does everything a larger, more expensive player can do. The user controls may take a bit of getting used to but after playing a few DVDs you'll probably find you've adapted. If not, give it to your kids!! They can handle it for sure! :-)

Works great EXCEPT that remote button labels are too faded & FAR TOO TINY TO READ!!
- Works great, great price.- Did NOT come with HDMI cable, I paid a few dollars extra for this model for the HDMI Yet still a great deal for 4 months of zero internet service over the CA winter in 2023.- CAN'T READ REMOTE BUTTON LABELS!!- Amazing extra functions, BUT CAN'T READ THE BUTTONS, SO CAN'T USE THEM!BAD:Text labels on the remote ARE FAR TOO TINY & FAR TOO LIGHT TO READ!!!Never had a remote this bad. It works, but it's labeling is USELESS, so the remote is virtually useless!Which means that all the AWESOME extra functions this device offers, they effectively cannot be used! You can try to memorize a few buttons you use most, BUT, you'd forget unless used daily. The tiny very light labels will certainly fade to nothing or rub off quickly. THEN you're out of luck. Player won't work ONLY because the buttons are unlabeled! You'll need a bright light & magnifying glass to operate the remote. You'll have to use it like an old fashioned TV before remotes existed. And won't be able to use advanced features. But, if you never rewind, pause, restart playback or use any of the amazing extra features is has, this works GREAT!

Made through 6 DVD's then bricked
First off this is a review for the item I received only. I realized I may have gotten a defective one so I've also written a summary assuming I didn't have issues. On the 3rd DVD viewed opening/closing the tray started making a strained grinding sound. When trying to eject the 6th DVD viewed the sound worsened and it powered off. Apparently the tray encountered too much resistance which caused the unit to power off. And of course the first thing that happens when you power the unit on is it cycles the tray, which leads to instant power off. I would give this unit a zero star if possible. Ripped it open to get my DVD back and threw this in the trash. Now assuming the unit continued to work as it did for the first 2 DVD's I watched I would give it 4 stars. It was quiet, easy to set up, and compact. The remote has an impressive multitude of functions including an internal volume (for the DVD player, not the TV which is really nice). On the flip side there are so many buttons on a small remote that they are small and the printing is tiny. Probably no issue if you still have young eyes. The one issue that cost it a star is the lack of physical buttons on the player itself. Without the remote you can only power the unit off/on and eject the tray. In other words if you lose the remote or it breaks this unit is worthless.

This is a decent player
This is a decent player that plays most of my collection. The player is powerful enough to play disc that a cheaper quality player couldn't because of light signs of disc rot on the disc. I buy a lot of DVDs and have noticed that more and more titles are showing some signs of disc rot as soon as I receive them. This player has a better chance at playing them then the one I purchased from Menards for around the same price but that one definitely feels like cheaper quality.

Fits my needs
I purchased this compact DVD player for my MIL who is currently living in a very tiny efficiency. I wanted a compact player this is simple to use for a 70 year old. This really seem to be it. She really does best if she sticks to the basics. This DVD player actually provides a bit more features than just the basics, but it won't be too complicated to use.Update - it didn't work for her. First, it was really loud like you can hear the disk spinning loudly the whole time. Second, after getting it set up, she called and asked us why she can't hear anything even though the TV and DVD player had the volume all the way up. I haven't been over to see what happened, but the sound was fine when I installed it. So either something malfunctioned in a day of use, or it's too confusing for her to use and she pressed a button and doesn't know what she did. Either way, it's being returned.
