Lambda Lamps - Ideal Custom Lighting Lampshade Kit M

This "lamp" - in quotes because it does not exactly meet the widely-accepted definition of a lamp as we know it - looks amazing when it is lit. It is truly unusual and simply riveting, and everyone will notice it. This is a very good thing, because it is a complete pain in the butt to assemble. The "kit" is basically a bunch of identically cut pieces of thin polycarbonate. These fit together to create a number of different shapes, providing you are very clever and can figure out how many pieces you will need to complete a symmetrical design. If you are fortunate enough to receive directions in the kit (I have bought this lamp twice, and the packaging varies), you will find them to be a series of diagrams involving tens of pieces facing this way and that with corresponding arrows and numbers, which are really pretty amusing in their complexity. There are videos available online that might help you understand how to orient the pieces to get them to fit together in the shapes you want, but I came to the conclusion that the pieces I received were far too stiff or thick to be able to flex into some of the cylindrical shapes that I really wanted. A standard globe shape seems to work best, and looks very nice as well.Do not expect to turn this "lamp" on after you exhaust three hours and a bottle of wine assembling the pieces. You will need to purchase, at minimum, an electrical cord with a plug, a socket, a lightbulb 60 watts or lower that will not touch the material when lit, and a means of hanging or standing it. I like them hung from a cuphook in the ceiling; the lights are very lightweight and really don't require much in the way of a bracket around the fixture or the hook - you can simply insert the socket and bulb inside the "lamp" and the tension of the locked polycarbonate pieces is adequate to hold the bulb securely in place. I think it would look cool on top of a table lamp sans shade as well.If you have the patience to do all this work, and you like doing irritating puzzles, I am sure you will be pleased with the end product. Just understand that you are completely manufacturing the end product yourself. The finished product is worth 5 stars, but the assembly warrants 2 stars. I give it 4 because it is very different.

Because the company is in Thailand, it took about 2.5 weeks to arrive at my doorstep on the east coast. It came as a slightly larger than palm size envelope. They are all in pieces neatly stacked together with an instruction sheet on how to put the lamp together. Very much like a 3-D puzzle. I love puzzles and put it together while watching an episode of my favorite tv show. At the time of purchase, I also knew it did not come with a hanging lantern lightbulb chord so I purchased one on Amazon at the same time.Specs: This purchase comes with 30 pcs of the puzzle and the instruction sheet has instructions for various shapes, some involve more than 30 pcs so just keep that in mind if you want a bigger lamp size.I'm very happy with my purchase and will be getting a few more in the future.

Good thing YouTube has instructional videos to put this together, or I would've given up!The pieces, 30 in all, are of flexible plastic. They fit together rather haphazardly until they are all in place. Think house of cards. That said, it really didn't take too long to put together.The resulting lamp shade is beautiful. Exactly as shown in all the photos.I have mine plugged into a switch that creates an artificial sunrise each morning. I love it!

This puzzle lamps have a great look. I bought this lamps to replace two puzzle lamps that I bought in Munich and were 'lost' during one of my moves. They are shipped from Thailand. I have to say I was skeptical at the begging but when I received the lamps I was surprised by the overall quality of the product. Great material quality and perfect cutting of each individual piece that compose the lamp. They arrived after one and a half week (to the US) from the time of purchase.

I purchased several kits, as we are creating an installation for our office. I went in knowing these lights are slightly difficult to put together, but there are tons of tutorials online for you to follow. Don't get intimidated by everyone else saying it's soooo difficult. Once you do a couple of the smaller ones, they go pretty quick. It took quite a bit of time to get my doorstep, but it was coming from Germany, so I understand. The material is pretty durable and is easy to work with. Surprisingly, it came with a cord, albeit a European plug, so it didn't do me much good, but we are setting up a different lighting systems anyways.I'd definitely recommend getting this product for anyone who's up for a fun project!

The creativity but wasn't aware that it was also a puzzle. Once I figured out how it is put together I could use my own creativity to create whatever shape I liked. English instructions would be helpful but the materials are sturdy Quality and has the perfect translucent quality. Very very very cool.

The lamp is a little difficult to get together because the instruction arent the best. Then when you have it ti gether and need to get the bulb and cord inside can also be tricky. It looks cool, and the price is good.

I like it but to be honest its still not put together, I've watched how to videos and still cant get past the base of the configuration, I cant wait till I figure this out because it will look GREAT!
