MY RIDE OR DIE!
this mousse has been THE staple in my curlroutine for the past year or two, and it’s never let me down. the quality is amazing, my hair doesn’t get crunchy, sticky, or flaky. those things are super dependent on how MUCH is being used so i always say less is more!! the price is absolutely perfect for how insane of a job it does taming my curls, it guarantees my curls will stay in place throughout the day, and managing the static looking frizz. i personally really love the lemon scent on it because it’s fresh and refreshing, i would hate a more gourmand scent truthfully

Like how my curls look and feel!
I am so glad I decided to try the Cake Beauty Whipped Curl Defining & Volumizing Mousse. From the first use, I noticed how soft and bouncy my curls looked without feeling heavy or crunchy. The mousse has a light, whipped texture that spreads easily and doesn’t leave any sticky residue. I also love that it gives my hair volume and definition while keeping it flexible and natural. Another bonus is the fresh scent, which makes my hair feel even more clean and refreshed. Knowing that it’s vegan and cruelty-free makes me enjoy it even more. This product has quickly become a favorite in my routine, and I honestly look forward to using it every wash day. Highly recommended for anyone who wants defined, frizz-free curls with a touch of volume.

Solid curls, holds great - just don’t overdo it
I’m a guy with medium to long wavy curly hair, and this mousse actually works way better than I expected. It gives my curls a nice hold and shape, and shine, without needing any heat, which I really appreciate. I just scrunch it into damp hair and let it air dry, and my curls stay defined all day. Pretty easy. The scent is also really good - kind of like lemon cake and not too strong, just clean and fresh.Only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because you have to be a little careful with how much you use. If I use too much, my hair starts to feel crunchy and a bit sticky. Less is definitely more with this stuff. It also left my hands feeling kind of tacky after applying, which isn’t a dealbreaker but worth noting.Overall though, it’s a solid product. It holds my curls, smells great, and doesn’t weigh my hair down. I’ll keep using it, just with a lighter hand.

Smells amazing
Super glad I found this product. I love the smell of it smells just as advertised. I use this product to hold in my curls when I use my shark curling stick. It helps keep texture and shape for over 24 hours and it really does help with frizz control. A small product goes a long way for me. This product feels high end to me and I loved it so much I bought additional products from this line. You definitely are getting a good value for your money. Will be purchasing again when I run out but I’ve had for 6 months and feel like I’ve barely made a dent.

Buildup and Stringy-ness
I purchased the Cake Beauty Whipped Curl Defining & Volumizing Mousse in September of 2024. I'm still working on the same bottle now in July of 2025. I was very excited to try this mousse as reviews online were glowing. I felt a little disappointed though. I have long wavy hair that easily gets weighed down. I need products that will reduce frizz and give hold so my curls and waves can shine through. This mousse did give light to medium hold, have a great sweet lemon scent (like lemon pie), and define my natural curls some. However my problem is everything I use this my hair gets so dry and tangled by the end of the day. If I try to diffuser with this in my hair the same happens. I've tried layering with a curl cream and ended up with stringy stretched out curls. I've tried light leave ins underneath, more water, less water, etc but always get the same result. By day two my hair is almost matted in the back and my ends are super dry. This hasn't happened with other mousse like herbal essence or garnier fructis (which you would expect since these have alcohol in them). I also can't put this mousse near my scalp for volume because it irritates my skin so much. It is very sticky, after I apply to my hair I have to wash my hands with soap and scrubbing to get the residue off. I imagine this would cause buildup on the scalp. Overall I regret buying this because it doesn't work for what I want for my hair. Looking at other people's photo reviews, some of the positive reviews the hair looks stringy and buildup-y to me so maybe it's just a preference thing. Originally, I bought this for heatless curls like socks curls or those foam rollers curls but even for that I didn't love it. Also random side note- the bottle is really tall so I had to store it sideways on my shelf and it started to leak a brown liquid that stained some of my items stored around it.

Love it!
I’m new to my “curl journey” and have used this and Not Your Mothers, I find the Cake to be lighter weight for my hair and I don’t seem to get greasy roots from it. Smell is really nice, leaves my hair looks fresh, curls pretty, and nice volume too.

Strong Hold Meringue!
This mousse is the most fun, meringue-like texture, smells like lemon frosting, and holds like it's nobody's business. I don't recommend it for those with low porosity hair prone to buildup, but it's a fantastic mousse otherwise.
