Still working in 2024! Great for small spaces.
I used the filter in my small salon suite while performing nail services. I was getting dry burning eyes because of the fume exposure from acetone and Gel Polish. It was also nice to have when I was performing pedicures from all of the dust from filing. The filter was great at removing the airborne particles. I would also let it run when I left the room with the door shut and come back to an odor free suite. As for home use, I keep it running in my bedroom, especially at night, knowing I am breathing in much cleaner air. I applied a strong peppermint essential oil to a tissue and placed it on the intake side of the unit to test the ability of odor filtering. I was happy to note that there was absolutely no smell present in the output. I sometimes turn it around when its stuffy so the air being exhausted blows on me, like a fan. Great filter! Jan 21, 2024 update: The light went out indicating the ionizer is on, so not really sure if that feature is working or not. The unit itself is still working great. When I dust, I tap my duster to the front and let it clean my duster as I go around stirring everything up and then let it run for a few hours in the room. So I burn through the filters pretty fast. But the machine itself is still working fine!

Clean air
Functional filter for my air purifier. My family are allergy sufferers and this helps keep the air clean. It fits our purifier perfectly.

Works well, good quality
I'm using this with my Holmes model HAP412 air purifier. It fits perfectly and is well-made, with a nice rubber seal around the edges and a solid band of glue that seals the filter parts together. It has much better construction quality than some generic replacements I've tried. It is more expensive, of course, than the generics, but doesn't fall apart as the cheap ones have. It includes the plastic "ears" that clip onto the Holmes and hold the filter in place. This is touted as being their odor reducing filter that uses charcoal, baking soda and other ingredients. It does seem to cut down on odors more so than the regular filers (HAPF30 and BAPF30 models). No, it won't make a stinky room instantly smell like a mountaintop chalet, but it does put a noticeable dent in odor (in my case, smoking smells). To extend the life of the filter and boost the odor grabbing capabilities, I also use a generic carbon filter that I cut to fit, and place on the outward-facing side of the filter. (This is the version I use: Cut to Fit Carbon Filter but there are several similar ones available on Amazon.) My only complaint is that the filter paper is gray-colored rather than white as in the standard filters. That makes it harder to see when the filter is dirty and ready for replacement. Other than that, no problems.

good part of a combination strategy
I use these filters in my mini-tower Holmes air purifiers (I have two of them). A year or two ago, it became much harder to find the original filter cartridges that I used to use with the Holmes purifiers, but these were suggested as a (more expensive) replacement, so I bought a couple. Do they pick up dust (and other junk) out of the air? Yes, absolutely. I have pet birds, a large dog, and four cats in a two-bedroom condo (as well as an aversion to cleaning), so these things have quite a job to do. Because my living situation is quite a lot dustier than normal, I'm not sure that there's ANY cartridge that's 100% up to the task. I go through these quite a bit faster than the manufacturer's recommended replacement rate, but I don't blame the filter cartridges for that. I have all sorts of indoor allergies. Qualitatively, my allergies are less severe since the filter cartridge change. I *think* maybe there's a little less dust on the furniture, these days, but it's hard to tell. However, one of my cats has recently developed asthma (thankfully, a mild case), so there may still be at least some dust in the air. She has been doing much better since I replaced the old cartridge, though. (My purifiers do not have indicator lights so it's a bit of a guess as to when to do this.) I can't really evaluate these in terms of getting rid of odors (for that, it seems the quality of my kitty litter has more to do with it than anything else). I suspect if the odor was particulate in nature (i.e., cigarette smoke or incense or something of that sort), these might be pretty effective, as they are true HEPA filters. I doubt there will be too many customers who have comparable allergen levels in their homes as I do! I'm inclined to go fairly easy on these, ratings-wise, because I do recognize that I'm unlikely to find any product that will be 100% effective, and these are at least as good (if not maybe a little better) than any other filter cartridges I've tried. (For what it's worth, these should fit in the Honeywell brand purifiers, as well; they appear to be a standard shape and size.) Certainly, in combination with a good furnace filter and a vacuum cleaner with its own HEPA filter, these represent a decent strategy for the never-ending battle to control dust and allergens.

Works great, move a lot of air
I like this filter, I use it as a secondary filter for some white noise when I'm sleeping. I've been surprised how much additional filtering this little filter is doing in addition to my main filter. A couple of things to keep in mind. One, this is a "HEPA type" filter which means it is not true HEPA and won't filter the smallest particles from the air. That's OK, not every filter has to be true HEPA; though you may want to have a main filter that is true HEPA in addition to this one, this filter is more of a secondary filter to support a main filter. Two, because it's a lower level filter it will move more air more quickly and will actually wind up needing to be replaced more frequently than a true HEPA filter. Keep an eye on it, once it begins to turn dark it needs to be replaced. Fortunately these "HEPA type" filters are pretty inexpensive. I'd much rather spend a few bucks every few months than breath in the black stuff getting captured in this filter.

These Aer1 are excellent filters! Great price too. They all arrived in one piece despite packing torn open on one side. I know this one will last at least 12 months as I have these in all our rooms' air purifiers. With so many tight folds and layers for the air to filter through, it traps dust, pollen, and mites very well! We have washable per-filters that are removed once a week and replaced to lengthen the life of this filter. In half an hour the difference in air quality is noticeable and allergies are so much less! But READ what each Filter says it can do as the Yellow will only reduce odors ( we have one in our Kitchen), the Purple will filter everything, but does an excellent job on Dust and micro allergens!

My older model Bionaire machine just perfectly. Bionaire; I finally found them online properly and they said any AER1 filter will fit these older machines. As a bonus, the quality is WAY higher, it even has a rubber seal on the back that lines up .. again, perfectly. So much better than the cardboard ones I was using. It also states "12 month replacement" .. which is better (hopefully) than the "3 month" on my old filters. I got the "allergy" filter only because the filter seems to be of higher quality (more durable looking). Again the quality of these filters is pretty darn impressive. Recommended.
