Canon PowerShot ELPH 115 is 16.0 MP Digital Camera with 8X Optical Zoom with a 28mm Wide-Angle Lens and 720p HD Video Recording (Blue)

I bought this camera 2 years ago and it has never let me down. In high light, low light, up close, or far away, this camera is has given me great shots every time. I recently took this camera up with me on my 1st ride in a small airplane and all the pictures I took turned out clear and bright. The camera comes with many different settings and I have used almost all of them so far. The "vivid" setting really brings all my hiking pictures of the mountains and rivers to life. There is a timer that you can set to take pictures in 2 second bursts, 10 second bursts, or a custom amount of time. I use this a lot when leading hikes to get group photos of everyone in the group. This camera is much sturdier than I would have imagined. I have dropped this camera countless times and it is still working as well as it did the 1st day I got it. This camera is perfect for intermediate photography. It gives you the freedom to capture beautiful photos without having to carry bulky equipment. This camera easily fits in you pocket and comes with a convenient carrying case. It also comes with a wrist strap for added convenience. I ordered the blue model and love the bright color. I have taken hundrends of pictures with this camera and trust it for all my important events. This is definitely a camera that I would buy again and would recomment to anyone needing a small camera that will take a great, clear picture.

Got a great holiday deal on this little camera. Yes, I know we all have phone now that take pictures but if you want clear and crisp images you still need something other than a cell phone. I haven"t managed to take the leap to a DSLR camera yet mainly because I don't take that many pictures and I don't want to carry another bag that could be big and bulky. Okay, and I don't want something that has an overabundance of features to the point where I would need lessons (maybe I can make the leap when I retire). This camera is very small, lightweight and easy to carry aound in a very small case. It takes wonderfully clear pictures and I really like the ease of it. I am impressed with the battery life as well. I am very pleased with it and for the price it was even better. I like this much better than the old Casio that I had which I paid a lot more for.

Personally, I purchased this point & shoot camera mainly because it uses the same memory card as my DSLR (Canon T3i, or 600D, depending on what country you're from). I wanted a new "work" point & shoot (aka P&S) camera that I could easily get the pictures off of it without the hassle of carrying around some special cable for. At around $80, this really fit the bill. I have yet to take this P&S camera on a project with me, although I have several international projects coming up soon this summer put it to a real test, the meager testing I have done with it so far, this camera is exceeding my expectations. It takes great pictures in very low light conditions! I'm actually surprised how good the pics come out. Of course, it doesn't compare to my T3i with the right lens on it, but for a P&S camera that costs under $100, I am honestly surprised. My DSLR setup is peaking around $4000, which is my "goto" camera for my international amateur photography travel pictures. Having said that, I really want to know how well it does when there is a bright source of light in one small area and the rest of the scene is actually very dark. I won't know until my next project. Just try to take pictures of cutting steel via a flame cutting torch with anything other than an expensive DSLR, it's really not so easy. And everyone in my industry carries around thousands of dollars of photography equipment around just waiting to get damaged by the actual process. Yeah, not going to happen. If a camera that costs less than $100 can get the job done, then if it gets damaged... well... no big deal. Anyway. My previous "work" P&S camera was a Sony, and had a memory card that could not be inserted into most laptops. Especially any newer ones. I always had to carry around a special cable just to get the pics off the thing. This was a real pain in the arse. And when you travel internationally as much I do, the less junk you can carry the better you can pack for the trip. There is a chance I might be reimbursed by my company for this purchase, but even if my company decides not to reimburse the $80 I'm out of pocket for this P&S camera, it will not break the bank (plus an additional $12 for a 16G SD card). This P&S camera fits my needs so far. A memory card that will work in my DSLR, as well as this P&S. Also can be inserted into almost any laptop. When I have the opportunity to take it on an actual job, I will add to my opinion of this camera.

I was shopping in Amazon for a Lumix DMC-LX7 and I stumbled upon this Little camera FOR LESS THAN $80! I thought "why not?". It arrived on Christmas Eve, so I charged the battery (less than 3 hrs) and gave it to my two year old granddaughter. She LOVED it. While the menus may not be intuitive, the user interface - automatic focus and exposure make it possible for a two year old to use it, and to take some pretty good photos. EVERYONE wants to pose for a two year old photographer. Pretty fun, When she's not using it, I carry it around in my pocket. I know that there is the potential for getting a stuck lens, but for <$80, I'm willing to take that chance. If you don't have a camera with you, you just don't get the shots you want. My wife likes to borrow it because it takes much better pictures than her iPhone. Image quality is good (maybe not as good as a Leica, but pretty good!). I like Canon's warm flesh tones, it eliminates my desire to color correct every shot. LOVE IT!

Well, I can't necessarily speak to the quality of the item when it arrives with an LCD that doesn't work. So, I'll give it a 1. The reviews make this seem like a fun little spare camera (though why would anyone buy a point and shoot to legitimately "get in to photography" is beyond me) to keep around. That's what I'd have used it for. Until next time... Edit 6/11/14: after purchasing another one of these (same model/color) from a different source (the DOA camera did come from amazon though) I can give a real review. It is definitely a nice little point and shoot. It's fun to use. The different photo settings allow a little fun when using it, and the vivid setting is wonderful when outside. The miniature setting REALLY does give the listed effect, love it! This thing can get really, really close to your subject. IT may take a sec or two to focus, but it gets there. I'd upload samples if I could. So, I am changing my rating from 1 star to 5 stars. It does exactly what I need it to do, and then some, so, I am very happy with this camera. Do not get this to "get into photography" as it doesn't allow the control you need. But, it's not supposed to - you point then shoot...

I have been using the Canon Elph series for over a decade now... This will be my 4th generation (and last) that I purchase. I love the elphs because they are cheap (I drop things) and they take nice pictures that I can blow up. Basically they are a good bang for the buck. This camera is basically terrible. The camera itself is slow, but meh that's a thing I can deal with. The thing that sucks about this camera is there is limited ability of manual control. The camera compresses the images and the sensors are so out of wac that I all my pictures are grainy beyond a 4x6 print. This camera is great if you are looking for a thumbnail on facebook or instagram (but that's what cell phones are for). In fact, my Galaxy S3 takes a better picture.

This is my third Canon Powershot Elph, so obviously, I'm a fan of this model. Between my 1st & 2nd (3 years), i saw a HUGE improvement in sharpness (MP)& zoom, also it was SO intuitive (in particular automatically "brightening" a dim shot (when i didn't want to use flash) & for close-up/macro shots) that I was able to rely on auto setting for all my picture taking needs. When i lost the 2nd camera on vacation, I tried to see the glass as half full & anticipated a even SMARTER, more intuitive camera. This was listed as the newest model of the one I had lost (with better MP & zoom), but unfortunately, I have found that it's actually LESS intuitive - the auto focus gets confused easily (I would say 15-20% of simple/still pictures come out blurry) & the flash doesn't go off about 20% of the time I think it should, sure these percentages are relatively low but it makes me worry about missed photo opportunities in fleeting moments. Also, I was annoyed to find that this camera doesn't come with a transfer cord (to plug into usb)or a memory card. Granted, the measly memory card that came with the previous models were useless but as another reviewer mentioned - then this should be mentioned in the item description. The item description also doesn't mention transferring photos at all (I haven't read the manual (the camera comes with a quick guide, but if you want the full manual, you have to go online) & maybe this is one of those wifi cameras where you can transfer photos to your smart phone or tablet wirelessly - but this shouldn't eliminate the option of doing it manually). Luckily, the camera does have the same "port" as the previous model so i was able to use my old transfer cords but there is NO REASON why that shouldn't be included with the camera. On the upside, this camera is smaller, lighter-weight & more streamline, but for my money - i'd rather it be the same size as before & function better.

I purchased this camera primarily for taking pictures at concerts, as I went to a few this summer I really wanted photos & video from. It is very compact and easy to store, but it packs a punch! It takes great pictures at night even without the flash, I always expect them to come out like moving blurs because of the no light but I was very impressed! The zoom is awesome, really helped get the shots in some far away seats! The video playback looks just like it does recording, clear and no delays and the sound is great! I am also very impressed with the battery life, I was using the camera fast and furious and it barely lost a bar! For the price, and for the size, this camera does the job!

This camera is fantastic! It takes amazing pictures and is easy to use. It's quite small which I wasn't expecting so I was concerned it would only be a matter of time before I broke something or lost it but so far so good. I didn't realize it doesn't come with a cord to hook it up to the computer but that was a quick fix with a trip to the store!

Had the earliwer version of the Elph, gave good service and high quality picture, the newer version has better quality and appears to have good battery life, Has a number of useful features. Had spare battery from old version but will not fit new. Worth the money.

Love the camera, don't like not having a manual or USB cord with it. Light and compact for my travels.

I love my powershot camera...takes awesome pictures.

I wanted an easy point and shoot camera to carry in my pocket. This tiny mighty is just the ticket for me. Love it!
